A customer requested this cake, it says it serves 15. She just called and said it needs to serve 25 now. Do you have any suggestions as to the best way to do this? If I add a round cake underneath itll be alot more cake. As it is now I charged her $30.00 (any opinions on price are appreciated ) and I dont know what to do about increasing price or just keep it the same with the new design/addition.

Thank you in advance!

what about adding some cupcakes or mini ball pan cakes as little spiders?
...still a lot more work for the price...
might be quicker to do the cake underneath, maybe just a single layer round?

good luck!

I don't know if you have the 3D ball pan set. One half of the ball would use 1/2 a cake mix (the ball is about 6" diameter. You could decorate that as the spider (maybe use a cupcake or mini cupcake for the head) and place it on a 8" or 9" round decorated as a web. It should give you close to the number of servings you need, you'll just be scaling back the size of the spider.

Yes, I think you need to raise the price. More cake and more servings more money.
I second JenWhitlock on adding maybe the miniball spiders that would be cute!

I would also do cupcakes as the added number and I would charge more regardless to how you ultimately add more. The original order was for that cake to serve 15. If you add time and ingredients that means more money. She changed the order - you do not have to adjust your budget because she added servings!

Either that or tell her to cut much smaller pieces.

I would add a single layer cake under the ball pan, at the same diameter of the ball pan you are using and then carve to make it look natural. And if she is increasing the number of servings I would exponentially increase the price. You charged 30.00 for 15 servings which is 2.00 a slice. I would charge 2.00 a slice and now that she has increased the servings to 25 charge her 50.00.

I am horrible at business! I need a business person to manage while I bake. I just said I would add a single layer 10 inch underneath and only increase price to $35.00 since she is a repeat customer and had referred someone to me. I also suggested a design I found more appealing (Id like to include it in portfolio over the other)
My boyfriend is gonna have a cow when I tell him how much I charged. =(
