I'm using the Crusting Cream Cheese recipe from this site, which is
pretty soft. I was hoping to add pumpkin pie spice liquid creamer to it,
but the only liquid it calls for is 1 TBL extract. Can I use creamer for the extract?
Thanks!
I am not real sure about using the creamer in the frosting. Cream cheese frosting is so tempermental. I just made cream cheese frosting and I added cinnamon spice blend to it. It tasted great and didn't mess with the consistency. Good luck.
I'm not sure either but doesn't McCormick or somebody sell a pumpkin pie spice blend? Maybe you could try that.

Thanks for saving me from certain trouble! I'll see what fun filling I can come up with!
I think I have seen past threads where people have used coffee creamers in their buttercream. I believe you replace the water that you normally add with coffee creamer If the only liquid is 1 TBL extract, then you might not get much of the pumpkin flavor with such a small amount.
If you add creamer it will thin out your frosting. You probably could balance the two by adding more powdered sugar. I would just add pumpkin pie spice personally.
I add creamer to my buttercream all of the time, but with cream cheese frosting it tends to be soft enough already so it will probably be too much liquid.........
Let me know what you try and how it comes out! I am interested in doing something similar, the pumpkin spice idea sounds good.
the creamer just replaces your liquid. i think my recipe uses milk so i'd just use that amount of creamer. i like the pumpkin pie spice idea but it doesn't have any pumpkin flavor, it's cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg. i vote be brave, try the creamer!
Yes you can use it in your crusting cream cheese recipe! Simply replace the amount of flavoring called for with the same amount of the liquid coffee mate. I have done it a few times now and have no trouble whatsoever. Go for it!
thanks Teecakes for your confirmed answer!
My suggestion is that if you are worried about the consistancy, look for the powdered creamer instead.
Absolutely use the powdered creamer... I use it quite often and it makes for great consistencey to the overall texture and helps with the crusting.
Does anyone know the thread that has the whole thing on adding coffee creamer to your cake mix. Remember reading it, forgot to add it to my watched topics.
Thanks

Here it is: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-285473-.html
I use creamer in both my cakes and buttercreams all the time!! I love the different flavor combinations that can be made!
I could be wrong, but I think they only do the seasonal in liquid form--at least where I live I've not found it in powder form. Jello does make a pumpkin pie pudding you could use , but it does have that pumpkin color
This is from sugarshack recipe, if this is any help...
Note: make the liquid by mixing one cup of hot water with one cup of powdered coffee creamer. Use only the amount you need to get the consistency you prefer.[u]
