Hi Everyone, I am new to the Forum and to cake decorating. Actually tomorrow will be my final class from Wilton's Cake Decorating. I will be making a 2 layer 11 x 15 (w/filling) cake for Sunday. Can anyone tell me about how much icing I will need to cover and decorate this size cake.

To calculate how much icing to make, count the cake mix boxes used, then make one batch of icing per cake mix box.

Calculated icing recipe is based on the use of 2 pounds confectioners sugar.

Click here for frosting recipes
(note that some recipes only call for a half batch, or 1 LB of sugar)

1 LB = approx 4 Cups

With flavors and liquids included. This will be enough to fill, ice the cake and add the decorations.

It wont quite take one full batch of icing per recipe or cake mix when doing larger cakes.
