So, last month I bought a booth at a local craft show, my very first one. I planned on selling these craft boxes that I make (a bit off-topic of cakes, but I attached a photo...just to get a visual).
Anywho...the show is October 27th, and I found out I can also sell my cookies there. I've been making 10 different designs of Halloween cookies all month, and I need to pick 5 designs to make about 100 of each. That's where I need your help. Which 5 do you think I should do and would sell well? Also, do you think 500 is enough?
Halloween Designs
01. Frankenstein
02. Bride of Frankenstein
03. Vampire
04. Eyeballs
05. Ghost
06. Pumpkins
07. Black Cats
08. Candy Corn
09. Skeleton
10. Spiderwebs
They look great!
I would do 3/5/6/7/and 10.
As to how many...
If you sell them as singles then maybe...but you can always make up some bouquets for attracting attention and you might get some orders which will have them go a lot faster.
Your boxes look "way cool" as the saying goes!!
For your cookies, I will go with 2,5,6,7,and 9
Those are just my thoughts!
Good luck with your booth, hope you sell lots and lots!!!
I think you should also do non-Halloween fall designs (plain pumpkins are good, but how about leaves and acorns as well?) for those who do not celebrate Halloween, but who may decorate and give gifts for fall. This would also stay in the minds of those needing cookies and gifts for Thanksgiving.
Ok, I'm voting for cookie #'s 1, 2, 3, 6, 8! I like to think about color and the display as a whole. The eyeballs are cute, but the blue and red don't blend in with the rest. And I think the candy corn is adorable and there will probably be lots of little ones at the show. My favorite is the vampire! Also think about which ones are the easiest or less time consuming to do! HTH and good luck!
Frankenstein, ghost, candy corn, pumpkin, vampire or eyeball. I love them all, so it was hard to choose. But I went with the ones I thought were most likely to be snapped up. You shouldn't have a problem selling any of them!
I vote for 1,5,6,8,10. You should have some cute little non scary ones for the little kiddies. You could just do plain pumpkin ones too.
Does it get really busy there? Is it a one day event? If only one day, then it might good just to do maybe 3- 5 dozen of each. HTH Good luck!
Your cookies look wonderful! Can you please tell me what icing you use? Could you explain how you make such large quantiites at one time? Also, how do you store them? Sorry for all the questions but I would like to do more cookie decorating and am always looking for tips and ideas. I decorate cakes and have done cookies a couple of times but the cookies are so time consuming. Thanks for your help!
I think you should use the candy corn. The others are more cool colors, and the yellow gives your display a little punch.
Oh - also skull, pumpkin, cat and Frankie...
Unfortunately, the show was pretty bad. The rain put a damper on the whole thing, and out of 300 cookies, I only sold about 20. I'm so upset.
Eek! My show is coming up and I am so scared something like this will happen after me spending all this time and money on it! UGH! I'm sorry!
Hey-
I know it is a tough thing, but listen. Think of it as a marketing tool. You were out there and you showed everyone what you could do. You probably reached more people, advertising your product than you think.
I have been spending lots of $ and lots of time trying to get my name out there. You may not have sold everything you anticipated, but now they now what you offer.
Your work is great!
Sorry to hear the show was a did not turn out so well. Last year when I had left over molded chocolate lollipops from my halloween bouquets that I sell at work, i gave them out for trick or treat goodies. The kids loved them!
How about making up bouquets with the cookies and bring them to work or ask a friend or relative to bring them to work & try and sell them that way?
Sorry to hear your show was not all that good,
Maybe if you do what CraftyMJ suggests you might be able to sell
most of your cookies.
I know it is disappointing when things like this happen and it tends to
dampen your spirits, but, keep the chin up and you will find a way of
selling your cookies....
Good luck!!
I'm so sorry to hear about that! That really does suck, that's why I've never entered one, so afraid of not making my money back.
Amber, what craft shows have you signed up for? I'm in michigan too!
It is at St. Anne school at 14 & Mound in Warren. Where are you??
I am nervous, but confident (at the moment!).

haha gotta love it when the little ones keep tapping the keyboard! Mine kept doing that too, and I ended up buying him his own little one, you think he uses it?? NOPE haha, gotta have mine.
I used to live around there until last year when we moved in with my mom after my dad passed away.
Anyways about the craft show, do you think maybe a few of those gourmet caramel apples? Or how about cookie bouquets for display or some candies? Just some ideas for ya!

Looks like it wasn't my son after all!
Anyway, I had a huge list of items I was going to bring, and I narrowed it down a lot. I was stressing out so bad. It just wasn't worth it. My stepdad told me I was going to be doomed from the start if I tried to do it all at once. So I am showcasing my cookie/brownie baskets and taking a couple of cake dummies along. I am going to have the items that would normally be inside one of my cookie baskets for sale for immediate consumption and take orders for the other things in my brochure at that time.
Good luck!
