As I spoke about in another forum, I get the keys to my new shop November 1. The previous tenant took floral orders by writing them on the walls. The place is in serious need of a good paint job. This is my first shop, and I was wondering what color scheme you chose for your shop. With all the stressors right now, I'm having a hard time coming up with something I like other than a boring neutral. I'm not crazy about pastels other than a pale yellow. Let me know your ideas. On the walls? Holy crap! Maybe thats why they closed no more wall space, can't take anymore orders!

We are about to finalize the purchase of our space (so no pix) but it will be pink with black accents.

I know you don't like pastels, but if and when I have a cake studio, I want it decked out like a 50s diner - all sugar almond colours.

I wish I had a shop to show off...but in my dreams my shop is dark red with black accents! Congrats on getting your shop, have fun!

How about the walls in different colors, like one wall yellow, another orange, a third maybe some tone of green or purple, or the accents green or purple. Or choose one color and paint the walls in different tones of the same color. With accents in another color. My hair stylist has her shop painted white and one wall is red and a couple of things are red, the accents are silver. Hope this helps.

Pink, two different nuances of the same color, (not a glaring pink, but a nice, soft lilac-y pink, with white accents and silver (aluminium) machines (display cases & espresso machine).

Even my mezuzah holder is pink with a silver shin and pink pearls.

The kitchen part is very light cream on the walls and white ceiling. I thought about all white and decided it would be too glaring.

If your dealing with Health Department inspections, remember to consider what they may require in the 'work' area. Here they want light colored walls so they can SEE if they are dirty! Little do they realize how well powdered sugar would show up on a dark colored wall when it comes shooting out of a mixer!

What I have seen people on decorating shows do is :
Pick a piece of fabric or a pillow or whatever item you just love the look of, and use that as an inspiration to draw color schemes from. Good luck and congrats on your new space!

I have pink (sort of Pepto bismol) on the top half and a rich chocolate brown on the botton. My cards labels etc all have these colours as well. People LOVE the combination, they say it reminds them of icing!!

there is a ton of info on the psychology of color on the web. Red has been shown to increase appetite - perhaps that'd be a good color to incorporate

you could go dramatic and do something like eggplant and butter yellow. I've always loved that color combo but I'm def more of a bright color person as opposed to pastel.

my shop is pink and lime green................very girlie!

My walls ar claret red with accents in black in my showroom. My consult room is beige and I have a brown table cloth and chair covers with bunt orange over lay on the table and burnt orange sashe's I change the colors for the seasons. My showroom has a round table and 2 chairs with the red and black sashes and over lay. I have a display cake on the table in white fondant and black scrolls over a red rose wreath as a base.

Thanks for all of your input! It has been very inspiring, and I made a trip to Home Depot this afternoon to get paint chips and booklets. I fell in love with a sample room in yellow and dark purple, as moptop mentioned, for my showroom/tasting area. There is a lot of natural light in the front area of my store so I can get away with the use of color and darker colors. There's so much sunlight, you can get a tan standing in the front area of my store. Of course, the kitchen area will be a light, neutral color to satisfy the inspectors. Cakesondemand, I love your showroom. Very classy, and the color looks great. We're putting laminate flooring in our showroom also. After seeing your picture, I think we made the right decision.

well it sounds like you've made your decision and are pleased with it, but i'll answer the question anyway...

my shoppe only exists in my head, but it's white/black/red with silver/chrome accents....although as time goes on, i'm beginning to think that white/black/yellow with same accents might be better.....

Mine's going to be like a teal/turqouise shade with chocolate Brown accents. I'm so excited to start painting.

I haven't made my final decision so keep the ideas flowing. DH is also my business partner, and I'm not sure how he will react to yellow and purple. The colors have to be something both of us can live with.

all the walls are chocolate brown, except one which is striped. those colors are chocolate, light (but still bright) pink, a darker (but still bright) pink, off white and an avacado/pear/lime-ish green.

Nov 1 is right around the corner! can't wait to hear how things progress! (i'm living vicariously *grin*)

I know from real estate trainings, red and yellow are "sell" colors, they actually stimulate people's brains when they see those colors and they actually will "spend more" . . . but it doesn't need to be the crayon shades, even subtle shades will work to your advantage. Green is soothing to the eye and relaxes people, especially soft greens like sage and mint. Gorgeous shop photo, very inspiring! Good luck with your decisions, what a fun stage to be in!! Worse case scenario, in a few years you redo it with something else!

I love Italian colors - the reds/golds/greens and pumpkin/squash kinda colors!! LOL

Just thought I would tell you to go to WalMart to get your paint. Buy the DutchBoy - it is made by Sherwin Williams. It will cover darn near ANYTHING (black marker/black or dark paint etc) in one coat (make sure you roll on the correct amount for one coat coverage and can be scrubbed with COMET (semi gloss and satin finishes only) to remove even crayon marks. It is Sherwin Williams quality on a WalMart price.

It can be color matched to anyones paint chips.

I am a Sherwin Williams paint rep for the WalMart division and I LOVE Dutch Boy. Painted my bedroom with it and my mom's house. It is TERRIFIC paint and won't break the bank.

I'm thinking of this....as an accent wall. with a neutral light orange or off white for the rest.

My shops main walls are a mauve/rose and a multi-toned tan. The walls in the bay windows are a sort of sea foam green. I know that doesn't sound like the best combination, but it actually works quite well. The pink & green are slightly muddy, the landlord chose them because they are typical of the time frame that the building was built in (1860s). I added the tan for the walls that we built.
