First Topsy Turvy

Thread Starter
I made my first topsy turvy cake today and it fell apart. I don't know what I did wrong but I am sad about it! I was so excited about making it. I was doing finishing touches when the top half fell over icon_sad.gif . Oh well. I will definitly try it again. I am just glad it wasn't for a paying customer.

Hmmm, do you mean the flat Wilton topsy-turvy cake pans? I was trying to make the 3-D versions with the optical illusion of layers of cake tettering upon each other. If there are special pans for that I would be thrilled...

I can't wait to hear too! I tried making one and had a disaster too. I tried using the tutorial and where I cut the cake to set the other in part of the cake in just started falling off when I put it together. I just cried!

I made them, they are cooling....I will go in today or tomorrow and finish them.

They took a long time to bake, but then again I put 2 in at a time.

Since I am reviewing them for Jackie and Heath I won't say anymore...except that they DID come out nicely from the pan and after I baked them I filled the pans with water to see if they would leak and they did not.

These pans are NOT needed to make the slanted cakes as you can cut from small to back and then slap them back together with some buttercream...

But...baking in these pans eliminates all that cake handling, therefore, smaller margin for error.

The pans are not super thick, they are more like the Wilton Character cake pans...I think aluminum so you'd have to make sure that you took extra care with them..

But they did bake up a treat! You spray them well!!

So, I will be going in today and ice them...maybe trow some fondant on them and see how I decorate them.

I haven't a clue! lol
