I had this lady call me on November 30th for a consultation on a grand opening cake for her party decor business. Great, I was super excited. We set up an appointment for Dec. 1st. She called that morning to cancel and said she would call within the next few days to reschedule. No problem. I didn't hear from her until last night around 6. Her grand opening is friday and she wanted a "wedding like" cake for noon. Excuse me I work 11 hours a day right now and I have a large xmas party to do for friday already. I'm bummed but I had to turn her down. There is absolutely no way I can do a cake for then, I'm not a miracle worker. Before I said no, she went on and on as to how she wanted to promote and recommend my business, etc. etc. I also got the impression that she wanted the cake donated. Oh well, that's the way the cake crumbles.

Oh, well, if you think she wanted the cake donated, then it's probably for the best that you turned her down, anyway.

Donations are like poison ivy, left unchecked, they spread all over, and are difficult to get rid of.

that stinks! sorry that happened to you... you're better off for turning it down and not turning yourself inside out trying to get the cake done! icon_smile.gif

Agree ..... you're better off. I'm amazed how people think they can schmooze me into something: "Oh, but yours is SO good and I wanted EVERYONE to taste it and look what kind of exposure I can do for you!" blah blah blah.

I say: "Look, toots, if you wanted everyone to taste my work, then you should have been a little more organized and booked me up before my OTHER ORGANIZED customers called and filled the calendar." icon_twisted.gif

Why do they think they are doing ME a favor by asking for a donation of the cake? icon_confused.gif
