Ok I have a cake order to fill this week and is due on Sunday afternoon. The order has been made since October 1st. She calls today, knowing I'm going to make the cake and cupcakes on Thursday and decorate them friday and deliver them Sunday... she says "Becky is there anyway I can add a last minute order to Maddy's cake" I said "Umm what type of last minute order" So she goes on this long story of how she fell in love with a raspberry souffle I made for our Memorial Day party and wants that added in, made in the dora pan to match the cake... Well it's simple to make it's a jell-o souffle and costs roughly $8.00 to make it. I have an extra dora pan that I can mold it in until ready to deliver and unmold it at her home so it doesn't mess up at all, BUT what do I charge her?!!?!?! Hubby says $20.~ then he said $15.~ I was originally thinking $15.~ but who the heck would pay $15.~ or $20.~ for jell-o, juice, and coolwhip???? How much do you think I should charge her for this??? I mean it is last minute and I have 6 batches of fudge and 6 batches of brownies to make for saturday evening delivery, I have christmas presents to wrap all night tomorrow, a christmas pageant tonight, a christmas concert thursday night and have to baby sit friday night.... My week is BOOKED SOLID!!!! I don't really have room to do this in this schedule but will because she's family--she's my god daughter... and this party is for her youngest daughter so I want to help her out even though it's last minute but I don't know what to charge her..... PLEASE HELP!!!!!

TIA Everyone!!
Becky

$15 - $20 is reasonable. It is last minute and it would cost so much more trying to get this from somewhere else. You are doubling your cost and that is okay. If she isn't happy with the price then being your god daughter she would probably say something. Good luck!

I think $15 is good for all the trouble but, if you don't want to charge the full $15, you can always charge $10 and have her help to baby sit while you make the souffle. This could not only help you but she would get what she wants and you could take it a little slower.

Ok, first of all, I just got sick to my stomach reading about all you have to do this week! icon_lol.gif

Now, you are willing to put this extra strain on yourself because she is family, and that's great, but you should be reimbursed for doing it, and she knows that! Something tells me she is already getting a good deal on the stuff you are making for her. Personally, I would tell her $20, and if that's too much, she will simply say, "You know, I don't think we are going to need it!" icon_wink.gif Either way you are happy because you either don't have to do it, or you are being paid reasonably for doing it!! If it costs you $8 to make, you should charge at LEAST $15. HTH!!!

Edited to add: I have a customer who is FAMOUS for last minute orders... I run into her at the store and she's like, "Oh, could I get such and such by Thursday?" (P.S. It's Tuesday or even Wednesday when she asks!!) I charge a little more for these last minute orders, and she has never raised an eyebrow. Matter of fact, when I charge her the regular price for her 'gave me enough notice' orders she includes a fat tip to make it what the last minute ones cost her!! Gotta love that! icon_wink.gif

Thanks everyone!!! The other posts wheren't there when I replied to Kari's sorry ladies!!! I've sent her a message to her cell, she's working - driver at Domino's so I can't call her back and she can't call me right now... I said "How's 20 bucks sound?" and am waiting to hear from her now. So we'll see.

Yes Melvira she is getting an exceptional deal outta me for this one lol she paid me a whole $35.~ for the Dora cake (all freakin stars lol) and 36 mini cupcakes, decorated in pink and orange icing with some fancy dancy cloud like piping ontop to match the dora cake and delivered to her door step lol.... Gotta love family lol. I try not to under cut myself so bad that I break even but sometimes I have and here lately I have been alot icon_cry.gif but I figured I needed to come out on top of this one and if I can get the stuff to make the souffle even cheaper then yay! lol

Well she did as yall said she would lol I got a response back from her and it said basically "Can we do $15.~ because I still have to buy christmas presents and birthday presents for the girls and for mad's bday" I replied "sure no problem"

I then talked to her mother and she was there, didn't know till it was too late lol, but her mom didn't know anything about this late addition and said that she shouldn't have asked me with such short notice and should've paid the original quoted price of $20.~ because it was such short notice and if she wanted it that bad she should be willing to do so... I said it's alright she's family and she's in a pickle so I'll do it for $15.~... I fudged and said it costs about $10.~ to make it so I'll be a little over on it and it'll be pocket money she laughed and then we changed the subject... So hopefully all this will turn out right as it didn't turn out how it was supposed to on Memorial Day but everyone still loved it lmao... the ice cream and cool whip seperated from the jell-o and juice and it firmed up into one complete section with a very visible two seperate sections lol but it was delicious anyway lol...

Thank you all for all your help with this icon_biggrin.gif
