My son's wedding is now over and it was beautiful.

I did 2 cakes, one kind of funky which the bride requested. The other was a surprise for them and mimicked their entire wedding party which I did. I did the cake top as well. They loved them both.

I did have a problem with the wedding cake. We rented a van for the 1 1/2 hr. trip and put each layer in a cake box and laid them on the van floor.

When we arrived and I picked them up I found the bottoms to be very warm. As a result, I found the cake had settled (I think the filling melted causing the settling). But otherwise okay.

Everyone was asking the bride and groom where they purchased their cakes and to me that was the ultimate compliment so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself for my first wedding cake (and first & second fondant cakes).

I love the wedding party cake. It's so cute. Such a fun idea! And you can not tell at all that the wedding cake settled. Good job!

The wedding party cake is amazing!! LOVE IT!!

So pretty! Are the 'wedding party people' made of fondant?

I made both the cake topper and the wedding "people" out of polymer clay. I gave them a protective finish so that the bride and groom can save them.

The photos show up better in my photos file than they do in my posting.
