So, I just opened my shop last weekend. I have had this cake order for 6 months for sunday. I am so behind. I just melted all of the buttons off of the front of my viking oven becuase my 16 inch pan didnt fit and i decided to be smart and put tin foil aroudn the oven to keep the heat in. Now i have no 16 innch cake-a borken oven and to top it all off, now i dont have time to make my MMF. DOES ANYONE HAVE A 16 INCH DUMMY? DOES ANYONE HAVE SATIN ICE I CAN BUY????
ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED. I AM SO UPSET I CANT EVEN CRY.
I don't live nearby but, wanted to offer a solution to the 16" dummy. I needed a 18" dummy for a wedding a couple of months ago. It's all I needed so I didn't want to order it and pay the huge shipping cost. So, I went to Michaels and got 2 of those flower rings in the size I needed (18")(you know the kind people make wreaths out of) and stacked those and put a smaller dummy in the middle. Then I did my bc and fondant like normal. Nobody could tell one bit. You could also do this and put a real cake in the middle and dowel it like normal if you still need the extra cake. Just leave instructions for the caterer or whoever is cutting the cake to remove the outer rings before cutting the bottom cake. It worked like a charm!!! Good luck!
I've covered pans with fondant before when I realized I didn't have the dummy sizes I thought I did. The rolled rim is the only annoyance but after you add a border you can't even tell, looks just like a dummy...wich looks just like cake...lol
I have a 20# container of Satin Ice if you are interested. I am on the Northern Neck. I think I have a 16" pan too!!
