I've just been asked to make a birthday cake for a girl turning 8. What are 8 year olds into these day? Bratz look too childish for 8 year olds, makeup bag cakes look too old. Need ideas desperately..... Thank You!!
i have an 8 year old daughter and she loves bratz doll and make up purse's, so i would go for these things...
i have bratz cake's and a purse cake in my pic's and my daugter has already put in an order for the purse cake i did as a dummy.

I did this Bratz cake for a 9 year old girl recently, I added the bratz boys to make it a bit "older"

I would make sure she likes Bratz before making a Bratz cake. One niece is a tomboy and wanted a soccer cake for her birthday while her sister wanted a purse cake with makeup accesories.
I would also suggest that maybe a bright cake with a few different colors would be good as well.
If you don't know if she is a girly girl or a tomboy I would just do a round cake with pink and lime polka dots, maybe some orange and turquoise as well? I don't know, just and idea... I don't have girls though!
I made my step daughter a barbie cake and 3 large flower cakes for her 10th birthday... my 7 1/2 year old loved them so much she asked for them for her birthday when she turns 8.... she has also asked for a wrestling ring cake lol... and a brats cake, and a disney princess cake... which is the one I'm going to aim for if I can do it....
Maybe think about a castle cake... Wilton's Beginners book has a castle cake in it... it's round a couple layers, and then just sugar cones for the pointy things on top and regular ice cream cones for the bottoms of those.... if needed I can scan it for you but I think you might be able to find it on wiltons website. A little girls love castles!! Even the tom boys My daughter is a huge tomboy and still likes the froo froo stuff once in a while lol She's actually willing to wear a dress once in a while lmao
