You can add 1-2 T of vegetable shortening to thin out chocolate. HTH!

I use just a little bit of oil. Add 1 tsp at a time and mix very well till you get the consistancy you need. I tried adding parafin for my buckeyes and it did not turn out as good as the oil method.

What about cocoa butter? Does anyone add cocoa butter to their chocolate to thin it? I recently bought some to use because I thought it might work better, but haven't tried it yet. I read somewhere that shortening and oil works but the chocolate might get a little spotty after a couple of days. This did happen to me when I dipped truffles last year....
