I know am I one that posted that I would not do a 'gross' cake. I NEVER told someone else not to, and please know that I wouldn't.

Honestly, I briefly scanned through the original poster's post, then responded more to replies to it than to the op. I've seen that done MANY times before and even seen some threads get totally off track as a result - but with no ill effects. For whatever reason, that has not been the case here. In my post, I might have referred to something as gross, but never to someone as rude, nor would I.

I apologize to the original poster and to anyone I have offended for what I thought was an honest response to the the comments I read after she posted. I never intended to be "negative" towards anyone. In fact, I think I stated that my opinion was just that, mine. I was only expressing it, and thought it would be ok to do so. I guess I will think more carefully about that in the future.

Yes. It is.

I won't add my opinion in case it adds fuel to the fire.

But.........

I don't think anyone was thinking, "I'll post this to make someone mad."

I think the idea of making a sheet cake look like a changing table, and then adding fondant details (the diaper, wipes, a trash can for the weak-stomached to vomit in...)
I gotta say, this thread had me cracking up. Just the thought of people having to eat a cake that looked like a dirty diaper has me giggling like a ten year old boy.
I agree with everyone who said if you don't have any ideas for the cake, don't bother posting in this thread. You're not helping anyone icon_rolleyes.gif

He He He.

What would you use for the dirty effect??

Just from reading the comments I have thought that a melted Mars Bar (do you have them??) would look good. what about your "rice krispy treats?"

SHe wants a dirty diaper - give her a dirty diaper. I like the idea of the addition of wipes and other paraphernalia.

When I first read this I thought it was gross too, but I have learnt that there is nothing out there that can't be replicated into a cake. Even human body parts.

Even ones I'd want to eat....

Um...chocolate buttercream squeezed out of an icing bag without a tip attached. Or crunchy peanut butter done the same way. Or both together! Could drizzle maple syrup over it too for added realistic-ness! icon_eek.gif

I attended a baby shower where they used melted Snickers bars for the doodie in the dirty diaper game. I think that would work well. If you don't want to go too gross you could always do a cute little clothes hamper / basket and put cute little fondant onesies and booties hanging out and then a slightly stained crumpled up fondant cloth diaper inside the basket.

Okay, one last thing on the great debate. If anyone was insulted by my comments I do apologize. I whole heartedly believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions. However, if you are grossed out or offended by the idea of dirty diaper cakes or potty cakes or whatever, why come to a forum titled "Dirty Diaper Cake"? To me that is like turning the TV to The Sopranos and then complaining about the violence on TV. CHANGE THE CHANNEL !!!

Yeah i think suggestions were asked not opinions.

I do love the idea with the sheet cake and the changing table wtih all the extras. I will be having a baby shower in the near future and when I saw this idea, i was thinking OMG! i have got to do this! but that is my sense of humor!
I do think the added extras could take away from the grossness of the "poop" for the queasy.
you could also do a few dirty diapers lying around the whole cake, kinda tiny ones. no ideas off hand on how to create that though :0)

hope it turns out well! i want to see pics most definitely! i would use that!

LOL or a snickers bar melted with some chocolate buttercream. Love the photos of diapers from earlier. Maybe a closed diaper like mentioned.

I love the rolled up dirty diaper idea I think with all the "extras" that will turn out great!

I also have noticed that mistydm the original poster has not responded to this post I sure do hope that all of the STRONG opinions in her post has not detoured her from asking questions on CC in the future. I LOVE this site and I have gotten alot of great advice, answers, and ideas. And I also can't wait to see pictures!

I like amberhoney's idea... the changing mat with some toys and a box of wipes with one sticking up. If the dirty diaper is necessary... maybe a peed diaper instead of a poopy one?

I think the rolled up diaper is a good idea too. I think most people would know what it was without the visual of it's contents. You could still do a box of wipes and a tube of diaper cream with that and I think it would be cute.

Good luck!

I think if this is what they want and you are able to produce it then go for it! Sounds a bit gross to me but I also see the humor in it -hopefully the shower guests would as well. I like the changing table idea and think a tube of desitin would be cute.

Obviously it's up to the individual what she does or doesn't make, does or doesn't eat. Yep!!-- I'm too uptight to eat anything designed to look like a turd or pee.

I guess I"m not one who enjoys toilet humor as much as some people. Dates me, I suppose. I mean--- I can actually remember when "letting one rip" in public would actually be embarrassing.

I like the idea of the used diaper rolled up like most moms do. But instead of something oozing out of it why not just make a pudding or other filling that you cannot see until cake is cut. This would cut down on the gross factor for the guests. I also like the idea of the box of wipes and diaper cream ( maybe the lid off cream with a little white BC coming out of the tube)

Oh... fantastic idea!

Where is the OP anyway - would love to hear if this has helped or not...

I am new to this site and I don't want to step on any toes, but if you don't like the topic, then don't read the thread. It's as simple as that. Now, if there is a real concern about guests eating a "dirty diaper", why not just do a cake topper that the mom can keep after the party. I have a vision of a baby looking over his/her shoulder with finger in mouth, wearing nothing but a sagging dirty diaper with a little of the "dirty" running out. I thought that was funny. Then the topper comes off and no one needs to eat any "gross" stuff. Just an idea.

WOW, I didn't think this would be such a 'popular' topic. I have gotten many great ideas and am thinking about what to do. I love the idea about the diaper wipes and the cream. I'm not even close to professional, but will make cakes for family. Sounds like I have my work cut out for me just deciding what to do. Thank you for all your ideas. Believe me, they are GREATLY appreciated.

From your photos it looks like you have a ball pan, so.... If you want to stick with the open diaper idea you could bake a 1/2 ball and then carve it to look like a curved diaper. Just put that on top of your changing table sheet cake or whatever. And I LOVE the gross cakes. I did a belly cake with actual babies inside with cherry filling, and I've made many kitty litter cakes. Bring on the gross!! (for those of us who like it)
