Chocolate Wraps seem to be a subject brought up on the forum quite often. I thought you might enjoy seeing some beautiful chocolate wrapped cakes done by Taeke Oosterwoud. Check out her other work as well, but the wraps are pretty fabulous.

Yes, sure. There are several in my photo gallery. If you would like the instructions I have written up, pm me your email address and I will send a copy to you. Here is one I was quite pleased with, only a little 10" round wrapped in chocolate with chocolate ruffles. It was donated to our community centers annual crabfeed and was auctioned off at the dessert auction. I was amazed when the final bid came in at $300.00 and one of my $45.00 cake gift certificates went for $200.00! Wowzer! My heart was beating a mile a minute.

they aren't all chocolate wraps are they? Just the ones that look like they're "wrapped in chocolate?" How on earth do you cut into one of those anyway? And do you put regular buttercream frosting on too? It's a very interesting idea but I don't quite get it.

You lightly ice the cake with buttercream on ganache, then wrap. Most of those are wraps on her website, yes. Some are chocolate decorations. You cut ito them by running a sharp knife under hot water, wiping it dry and then cutting. Some of the chocolate will shatter but it can be set beside each slice of cake on the serving plate.
