I'm wanting to make a cake that tastes a bit different.

I was thinking maybe adding a bit of malted milk mix and/or white chocolate pudding mix.

What do you think?

I tried a recipe that called for malted milk mix...I think it was TGI Friday's Malted Milk Cake...not good! As far as the pudding goes.....you can add a 4 serving package of instant pudding and one extra egg to any box cake mix...the flavor can compliment or contrast, whatever you like! The end result is a firmer cake! Good luck!

The idea sounds wonderful. I am not a malted milk fan at all though.

You could do a creamy, ice cream style filling and it could be like a malted milk shake.

You could do big rosettes of frosting, and in the center there would be a malted milk ball. Or you could grind them up, and stick them to the buttercream on the sides of the cake.

Thanks Sugar. teehee

ok, so I'm going to make the cakes today, since the birthday(s) are tomorrow. (It's odd making my own birthday cake) I was going to use yellow cake mix as a base and just add malted to it, so looks like it's been done and is ok to do.

I'm thinking I'll add like 1/2 cup of malted, so it just gives it something different, so people will maybe say, "OH! that's good like that". We shall see. As for the icing/frosting, I have a few bags of malted crunch that I use for making chocolate candies, and thought I'd add maybe 1/2 cup at most, into the frosting.

Time to get crackin'

What was the problem with your pictures? Were you trying to upload them to the gallery on here? What message did you get?
