Ok my identical twin nephews will be six on August 5th and thier birthday party is August 13th. This doesn't give me much time and my sister asked me to make their birthday cake. I told her I would do it for free and that ould be their gift. She left the design up to me with only three instructions:
three layer stacked
whimsical design
and
use MMF if possible (not necessarily required)

Help! I have no idea what to do! I know these boys like Spiderman, Spongebob, camoflage....
I can't think of anything! Help! icon_cry.gif I have decorator's block! icon_cry.gif

i think spongebob is the easiest to do as far a whimsical. If you want to do a spiderman/ spongebob theme i read in another post a great idea that edcjenv came up with. the top layer could be spiderman then middle layer could be water and the bottom layer could be the oceans floor where spongbob lives. You could do his pinapple house add some jelly fish patrick spongebob. the top layer could be a city by the water with spiderman in spiderman 2 he was fighting doc oc near the water so maybe a scene with them by the water so that the cake kind of shows you going under water into spongebobs world. you could even do this in the madd hatter style cake there are directions for it on this site. hope this is helpful for you

There are several ideas-if you did 2 cakes (to equal the large one)you could actually dp spongbob and spiderman-lots of ways to do them both without alot of work on each-with a banner set up behind them with happy birthday -boys names-on it so as not to destinct each cake as whos...that way there you could have 2 flavors, etc.

Ok.. so I think I'll go with the two seperate smaller cakes. Now I have a few questions. If I wanted to construct a three dimensional pineapple and spongebob for the top layer, can I just use fondant or do I need something stronger? If so, what should I use? Second question, will 8", 5", and 3" pans be okay to use for each cake? (Remember they'll be whimsical-style cakes.) Altogether I only need to feed approx 25-30 people. And....just out of curiousity...what would you chargefor something like this?
