I have dipped my Spritz cookiess in either white or milk and dark chocolate for years.

I think I have some Christmas trees in my photos. It tastes really yummy and when still wet you can add sprinkles ect. Fast, yummy and easy, what's not to like about that!

You can get sugars in basic colors at the grocery store. Otherwise Michaels or JoAnns has a good selection of Wilton items. Then there is always the cake decorating store.

You can do both. If you don't ice, you can put sugars on before baking. it all depends on the look you are going for.

ooohh... i've not yet invested in a cookie press (i believe that's what you use for spritz cookies???? or maybe i'm wrong...lol) i don't make them because my favorite part of cookie making is the decorating! but that chocolate idea is so wonderful that i am going to go buy one tomorrow! i think everyone i know would just love cookies dipped in chocolate!!!

thanks so much for the wonderful idea cookiemookie!!!

I love to dip them in the candy melts, colored and sprinkled according to season of course!! You know those pink and white "fudge" iced and sprinkled animal cookies you can buy? Home made are over the moon better!!

I just use a simple powdered sugar w/water mixture for my spritz cookie icing and then drizzle it generously over each cookie. Also, after experimenting I've found that I prefer to just use a cookie scoop for spritz, so they're more like tea cookies than decorated cookies, because my cookie press makes them itty-bitty and I have to reload it often, so sometimes it can be a pain. When making spritz it's also popular to color your dough, but I don't usually do that either (I'd rather just color the icing that I drizzle since I'm not usually making any particular shapes). HTH.

yellobutterfly,

That's a great idea of using a cookie scoop instead. My cookie press is a pain to keep reloading and sometimes the cookies get too well done because they're small.
What size scoop do you use?
And do you drizzle with chocolate? If so, what?
Thanks.

Hi Phyllis,

I just use the one I purchased at target - it's small but not tiny...sorry I can't be more size-specific, but it's the only size my target had, so maybe it's standard at other stores as well...No, haven't tried drizzling with chocolate, but sounds yummy! Usually I just drizzle with powdered sugar/water icing/glaze. Hope that helps!

you can make your own colored sugar for decorating. Just put the sugar in a plastic bag then add a little gel icing color and shake the bag until it is a uniform color.
