BUt.....! My chocolate chip recipe that I spent months working on myself and perfecting until I found a cookie that I was willing to put my name on? It's going to my grave! I MIGHT leave it in my will to my kids, but that depends on whether they stick me in Shady Pines or not!

Hehehe! Amen, sister!

I do guard my buttercream recipe, but that's about it. I've found that most folks on here will help you at the drop of the hat. Especially indydeb...she's great. She helped me a while back with some catering issues and I have to say that after taking her advise, it worked like a charm. And, her 60% rule was right on.

Thanks to all who have helped me!

Well, I'm not to the point of having people ask me for my recipes (yet!) but one day I'm sure someone will ask. I'm afraid that I will be one of those selfish ones who won't give it out to friends or family. Most of my family is cool about stuff like this but I have an aunt who thinks she can always improve upon what anybody else has done so I'm very careful to not share with her.

She asked me once for a cheesecake recipe that she loved. I wasn't able to find it (not on purpose either icon_confused.gif ) but she ended up finding one similar to it and told me it tasted so much better. What???? icon_surprised.gif I'm almost afraid that if I start decorating cakes on a more regular basis that either she or one of my cousins is going to decide to do it also just because. It makes me fume. icon_evil.gif

As for CC, I'd gladly share. The minute I have time to post a recipe, I will!

All right, all of you quit brown-nosing Deb for her cookie recipes. When she is old and feeble she is moving in with ME, not some assisted care facility! I am the only one that really loves her enough to take care of her, and who isn't just trying to get at her precious recipes!! You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!! I NEVER!!

*Do you suppose she bought that? Well, she doesn't seem that bright. What? Still typing? Who is still typing? NO!!! Stop typing! Don't type in any of that last part! That was just between me and you!*

Um... hey folks on an unrelated note, I'm looking for a new personal assitant. Gee Debi, you look pretty today. icon_redface.gif

Actually, I just recently watched this episode online and immediately thought of this thread. If you haven't seen it, just go online to ABC.com and watch it.

I did see Desperate Housewives last night - that was so funny watching Bree have a total freak out over a Lemon Meringue Pie recipe!!

I'm not to the point of breaking into people's homes to steal their recipe secrets, though - but that was just TV, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

Makes me think of the Bush's Baked Bean commercial...

I wouldn't share recipes I used to make money. I have no plans of doing this as a business so I guess I'm safe. Most of the recipes I use are not mine so I guess I really have no right to "guard" it.

Now Melvira, why would Indy go to Iowa when she could come down here and live. Weather is warm here and not that far to the beaches. Oh yeah we get really good homemade vanilla easily. What do say Indy? We can even get you your own cabana boy for the beach icon_lol.gif

I only bake for family and friends, but I will share some of those with certain friends. Other pot luck food, no problem. But nobody gets my mom's fruit cake recipe! My sisters don't even have it icon_biggrin.gif

Got so excited about the cabana boy I forgot what the OP had asked icon_redface.gif I tend to share almost all of my recipes with the exception of those I use in competitions. I would pass these on to ppl in other areas of the country knowing that I would not have to compete against them. Now there are ppl that I will share nothing with at all. No no no to my MIL. I have this pork chop recipe that has a whipping cream base. She wanted to make it for her BF so I gave it to her. Well the next Xmas my DH's family puts together a family cookbook and guess what...yea my recipe her name on it. I know its petty of me but crap I worked hard on that.

Forgive me in advance if I am being selfish... icon_redface.gif

Im like the rest of CC'ers i dont mind sharing here , but the ladied at work no way im giving it to them i had one lady and she knows my chocolate cakes are a wow she talked to me one week about a cake for her sisters birthday and told her i could do it for x amount of $$$ then a bout 2 weeks later she asked me if i had a good chocolate receipe i would give her i said just use the chocolate cake mix i think she got the picture i dont give out my receipes especially the ones that i work and work on just to get them right, No Way, im sharing some of them.

I'm so stupid that I give any recipe that people ask for. And Debi--I have used my same cc cookie recipe for 40 years so I won't be begging for yours. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I'm too old to switch recipes now.

Girls.......maybe you could hypnotize her and get the recipe. icon_rolleyes.gif

Of course my favorite is when someone asks if there is any way I will share a cake recipe and my daughter and I look at each other and roll our eyes. I tell them to call Betty or the Doughboy and get it. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Bree was a hoot last night with the recipe....funniest part being that her husband is just as anal about those things as she is.

Ha ha ha! At that point last night my husband turned to me and said "honey, this show is not that good" but I was laughing!! Love Bree! So, calm and collected in public even when she's mad. But in her house... she's a NRA card-carrying-crazy-pie-making-fake-baby-impregnated-Stepford Wife.

I love her!!!!

I don't share recipes because I'm not that good of a baker....yet icon_wink.gif So nobody wants em icon_cry.gif and....I really don't have anything special that ya'll don't have.

Debi-I'm opposite of you. People rave over my chocolate chip cookies, but it's the same one on the Nestle bag. I don't know why mine are better...they just are. My OATMEAL one however, is NOT leaving me for anything. I just won first place in the State Fair with them and they sent a form asking if I'd like to compete next year in the blue ribbon bakeoff. Um, NO, I have to submit my recipe!!! Not in this lifetime!!!

I LOVED the Deperate Housewives episode this week. I would be Bree.

If I sold items- I would not share those recipes. But for things like family recipes, church potlucks, reunions, etc.. I would gladly share whatever recipe I had! Why take something to the grave with you? I like to past on the information! icon_biggrin.gif

I'm the type that *usually* will share recipes...but then as is the case a person will make it "their" way, and it makes me think "why did I bother sharing it".

Prime example...I uploaded my recipe for RVC into the CC recipe forum, and then I read another post from a fellow cc'er who used my recipe and stated they used a cream cheese frosting...after reading that statement, I almost requested my recipe to be removed...b/c my personal motto is simply "If you don't want to follow my recipe...Don't use it!"

Seriously, I almost hit the ceiling...it made me mad tapedshut.gifthumbsdown.gif
