I'm posting this on a couple forums in hopes of some great ideas. I am making ginger bread houses early for show and notice over the years that the darker the color the more fading can happen. I've also seen icing that is very shinny and would love some tips to go towards the shinny over the matte finish. I love luster/pearl dust but the shinny seems to be in the icing base. My houses always hold up and I do a ton of detail but would love to get some help to improve color. Thanks so much, if I can't find it here--I can't find it anywhere.

Color in royal does fade over time. It helps to keep it out of sunlight.

It is suggested that you add 1 tpbs corn syrup to the icing to help the shine. also, drying with a hair dryer (warm) is supposed to help hold the shine.
