I have just taken my 2nd paid cake order and i'm worried. Its for a barbie doll cake. I think I can make the decorations ok, but im worried about the cake itself. She ask for chocolate. The one I did befor was like a pound cake, and im afraid the chocolate wont be as durable to stick a real barbie in, even with the round cake added to the bottom. Any suggestion for a good Chocolate recipe that will withstand the test???

Do you bake from scratch or mix? Chocolate cake should hold up fine with the wondermold pan though!

When I made my Barbie cake, I used chocolate boxed cake mix and didn't have any problems at all with it holding up. Have a picture of it in my photos it you want to have a look.

I concur, box mix or scratch cake will work just fine.

as long as you cut a hole out just large enough for the legs, the doll will go in fine and either scratch cake or a mix will hold up. if you just push it in without space cut out, the cake will probably crack.

I've made 3 or 4 of these and all before I got into caking as I am now..I used undoctored mixes each time and never had a problem with them...just go easy inserting the doll into it and you should be fine

RLB's Cake Bible Chocolate Pound cake is nice and dense. I am not sure what she calls it but it is in the front of the book right next to the regular pound cake.
