I know I can buy the plastic ones, but I was curious if anyone else had a good idea for disposable bags, made from paper or any thing else?

You can always use the parchment bags.

You can always use ziploc baggies and cut off the tip and use.

Parchment paper triangles, rolled into cones, work great for SMALL amounts of icing. They're much cheaper than the disposable bags, too. HTH

I like plastic best, and I wait till Hobby Lobby does 50% off Wilton and stock up on boxes of 100.

I go between the parchment triangles and the Wilton bags. you can get them at a great price if you cut the 40% off coupons out of the Joann's and Michaels ads in sundays paper.

I was thinking of something I could make at home. I have several small amounts of frosting I need to use.

I have tried using ziploc bags before. They don't work. The seams pop far too easily. The parchment bags work the best for small amounts.

My mom used to use waxed paper when I was growing up. Things were tight and she made due. I don't recall ever hearing her complaining about the waxed paper cones. She used them just like parchment paper.

If you don't have parchment paper, I have used waxed paper before

tear off a square and cut diagonally across to make two triangles and roll triangle like a parchment triangle into a cone. I use it if i need several small color amounts.

There are the parchment bags but then there's the folding and what not to deal with too.

For small amounts I use parchment "half-bags". Cut a 15" parchment bag in half so you have 2 triangles. Fold each just like a whole bag and viola!

My aunt worked in a bakery where they used freezer paper instead of wax paper. Someone asked befor what is freezer paper. Its the white paper like the butcher wraps your meat in. Its about $6 for 100 feet on a roll at walmart. Usually you can find it near the foils. They are made exactly like the wax paper cones. Hope that helps and saves some $$$
