I have been asked to make a cake for a 14 year old girls birthday next week and the only thing they could tell me is that the girl loves purses, cell phones and girly things. Could anyone give me some ideas on this? I think a Louis Vuitton purse would be cool, but I have no clue as to how you make the zipper (the demo on here doesn't say how they did the zipper)? Any ideas or pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

For the L.V. purse in my gallery, I cut the strip of fondant, then pushed a real zipper into it to make the impression or you could just make the impression with some tools. Then I painted it with gold luster dust. HTH!

I've done several purse cakes and for the zipper, I cut a strip of fondant to the size I needed. Then using the embossing wheel tool with the zig zag wheel on it, I just rolled it across the center of the strip and viola....a zipper. Then I added a little zipper pull by shaping a small piece of fondant into a rectangle shape and poking a hole in one end.

You could also do a little Ipod out of fondant as another accessory. Super easy...just shape a piece of fondant into a rectangle and add a circle "dial" in the center along with a square "screen". Pipe on words and directional arrows for details. Roll a thin log of fondant for the wires and make two little ear bud pieces by shaping fondant to the size you need.

Basically, I just look at a picture ( or the real thing) of what I want to make and start shaping pieces from there.
