My best friend just found out she is pregnant after over 2 years of trying!!! I am having a congratulations party for her, but cannot think of one cute/clever idea for a cake! I don't want it to be a baby shower cake because we will do that later. I want it to be "congratulations you're pregnant!" Any clever ideas? Thanks!

hmmm... not sure. How about a nice present cake or if you are looking for something funny, maybe a finish line. lol

Congratulations to her, I hope all is well. icon_smile.gif

I'm doing a cake for my pregnant friend who LOVES sushi...but now can't eat it until baby comes...so I'm doing a sushi theme sorta like "ha ha, you can't eat sushi, so here's some fushi"

Welcome to CC! Congratulations to your friend. That must be very exciting for her! How about a test strip with a POSITIVE on it?

I think the prego cakes with the bellys could be good for this just make alittle belly and write our congratulations on your pregnancy on it. that just what i was thinking.

That's what I was going to suggest. I have a cake with a belly in my pictures (though I did it a long time ago... it's not that great), and you could make it a tiny belly for the begining stage of pregnancy, or make a huge belly and say something along the lines of "congratulations, now get ready for the BELLY!" or "looking forward to seeing your bump" i don't know... I can't really think of any good phrases right now, but you get the idea.

*chuckle* if she's got a good sense of humor and is experiencing morning sickness (or, as I did, 24x7 sickness *smirk*) adding a toilet seat or barf bag or something of that nature to the design might give her a good chuckle.

I do like the test stick idea.... I remember doing a second test in the bathroom of a Bennigans restaurant with two of my closest friends a couple hours after seeing my first test results. It just hadn't sunk in yet so on our way to lunch we stopped by the quick mart to grab a test. The looks we got in that restroom wre HILARIOUS!

* my second is 3 years younger than my first....

Maybe you can do a cake with one of those at home pregnancy tests with the color showing that she's pregnant. I'm not sure how you would do that, but it's an idea to play with.

I like that idea, you could carve it and cover it in fondant!
If she has a silly sense of humor you could make her a cake that says "Congrats on Getting Knocked Up" , I would think that was funny, but thats just me. icon_confused.gif

if it is appropriate...meaning it was not done by a doctor icon_wink.gif

you could make a cake with swimming sper* and a "Way to go, ( father's name).

Hope that wasn't too crude. icon_redface.gif

I just think the dad should be recognized as he is about to become invisible. (big smile)
