I have a bunch of diff projects coming up and would love to make some molded candy for ds's classmates' goodie bags for the 14th.

Is it okay to do them this far in advance and just keep them in a covered container?

Are they more likely to melt after the CM have been molded?

Also, last ?, I promise, can I use shimmer/luster dust on them--do I just brush it on with a brush or do I need to use a combo of vodka/liquid? I am doing lightbulbs and would like the base to look shiny a bit.

Thanks so much! icon_cool.gif

just keep them in a taped shut, well-hidden container -- so no one can snitch!!!

as long as kept in a cool place, they'll be fine.

I know absolutely nothing about making candy but am planning on learning so I don't know how long they would keep. I'm sure they would be okay.

The only comment I have to make is that I wouldn't think that using vodka on them would be the best thing if they are for children. Could cause a stir if the wrong person found out or if one was allergic to it. JMO. If it were my kids, I wouldn't care, but I know that in my neck of the woods there would be an uproar.

(and the alcohol all evaporates away...so no problem for children to eat -- other than the normal messes and bouncing off the wall from the sugar high

Once candy melts are molded and hardened they go back to the same state as they were before in the package. I have letters and booties I molded with them quite some time ago and they're fine in the plastic containers I store them in. I just keep them from bumping each other.

I know and you know that the alcohol evaporates and won't hurt the kids but I just know the religious zealots around here would have a fit if they knew there was alcohol in their kids' candy. Personally, the more alcohol, the better! icon_lol.gif

But we will save all the alcohol for me!! icon_wink.gif

And you are right, you mention alcohol and there is always that ONE parent that has no clue and will raise a stink. The same one who thinks $20 is a lot for a dozen of homemade fondant covered cookies with royal accents bagged and ribboned!
