I swear I feel like I am sitting at a table with everyone sharing stories instead of sitting at a computer desk reading posts.

This site has saved me!!!
I have two little girls (three years and 6 months) and I stay at home. So it gets lonely with no adult conversation except with hubby - but he doesn't want to talk about cakes or kids or anything...(lol)

I now feel like I have adult friends even though I have never seen you all!

I think that's how most members on CC feel
I wouldn't know what I know now if it wasn't for my friends on CC. I've been helped out sooo many times!! I've made some wonderful friends too! When I try talking to my hubby about cakes he looks at me w/ a look like that one. He doesn't even know what to say or do when I show him my finished cakes! Ya'll on CC are the only ones who really get it. Well I have 2 friends who decorate. One of whom got me into it & the other I got her into it! I have teenagers.. all they want to do is eat the cakes!!

I have a wonderful DH who helps me a lot w/my cakes .. he'll tell me if it needs a little something here or there .. offer me suggestions .. now I don't always take his suggestions, lol ..

other times when I ask him for suggestions of what cake may need, I get this deep sigh and he gets up and comes to look at the cake, then turns to look back at the television and doesn't hear a thing I'm saying .. that's when I just want to pop him on the back of his head! lol but of course, I don't ..

I live alone, kids grown and gone, and when I talk about CC this and CC that, my family and friends give me that same slant eyed look...you are so right...they just don't get it! Janice

Haha, well ditto to all of the above! Hhhmn, if you talk about cakes everyone looks at you like you just stepped off another planet! Hubby makes me laugh because he pretends to be interested in what I say, he actually is interested in the cake scraps or cleaning out an icing bowl but when folks see the cakes he can describe how long it took and how much work it was, like he actually helped make it, haha! He actually used to think it was all a big waste of time and energy and money that created a big mess. That was until I made his brother's daughter's wedding cake and then it was a different story. Haha, you would have thought he had made it, when he saw his family's reaction.
Haha, yes, I remember when the children were little longing for an adult conversation. Then they grow up and leave home and you find yourself talking with squirrels and cats and any other critter. Haha, you come full circle. So these sites are a great opportunity to speak to real adult people about something you have in common.
Funny how you can make friends with people you actually never really see!

I know what you guys mean. It's nice to bounce ideas and whatnot off each other. My husband is supportive but he doesn't get my addiction to the site. Now mind you he will sit for hours and look at info on Macs and tech stuff! And another thing, I am pretty sure that most everyone has eaten cake but you are right Squirrelly, they act like martians land and deliver the cakes to the front door not that real people actually make them and enjoy doing it! lol A little off the subject my DH used to have his head in the icing bowl while I was trying to finish cakes until the day he was actually eating the icing by the spoonful and I told him what was in the icing and being somewhat of a health nut he almost had a heart attack-that's what he gets for not paying attention to me!!

I think alot of us feel the same way...CC saved my sanity also. I have learned so much from everyone here. I had to respond to this though and tell a little story. My 2 oldest kids are off at camp till Thur. and my Youngest is having a hard time sleeping. Well he fell asleep in my daughters bed tonight and that is the room with the computer. My DH kind of chuckled at me and said what ya gonna do now "no cake central all night" Well I fixed him after my son was asleep I moved him to his room They just don't get it!

At least your husbands will help eat the cake or cake leftovers!! Mine doesn't like 'sweets'!! (that must be some kind of sin!!!)

He will only eat cookie cakes...but I can't make a three tierd cake out of cookie!!

at least my daughter will but then she wants it for breakfast - and a good mother wouldn't give their child cake for breakfast........or would they

It's so good to have you with us. Companionship is an awesome thing and I'm always telling my dh how 'productive' it is to spend hours on CC. Because I'm learning so much heehee. All of the ladies I know who decorate are so defensive...like you'll steal their ideas or customers. CC is such an awesome place for brainstorming/sharing, etc...

It may not be the healthiest thing to have cake for breakfast, but I'm sure it creates 'sweet' memories (haha)

WOW!! We all seam to all have the same story. So when I read the forums like mom of two girls said its like you guys are right here and it feels real good to find people that relate to you and know what yur talking about .

Well, if you ask Bill Cosby, Cake is the perfect thing for breakfast,,, it has eggs, wheat, milk... it's nutrition!

Actually, as a SAHM, it does get a bit lonely, especially since all three kids will be attending full time this fall. The sacrafices I have to make for my kidlets! I have one friend who I have had for more than 2/3 of my life that I talk to once in a while (she's single and not into the family life), but I also have a friend who I made this year through my kindergarten child ( a single mom with 4 kids who just reached out to me)..... we talk daily, but I spend most of my time with my CC buddies.
As far as my husband goes, he's very supportive of the cake decorating and encourages me to continue, as it is an employable skill when we relocate.

I have to admit that this is the first site I go to in the morning and the last one before I go to bed. I check in every time I have time for the computer. I feel like I'm missing out if I don't. Plus...you are all so sweet.....I always have a great feeling with your compliments and support! God bless all of you!

P.S. My husband is a true darling. He brags to people about my cakes...and he is not easy to please! All in all, this cake decorating is my calling and this website is the icing on the cake!!!!

For me it all started 12/2004. I'm a SAHM too, and one day I became fedup with it all. When my husband came home from work that day, I told him I had to get out of the house for couple of hrs, and I went to Michaels, just to brouse around. I bought the 2004 yearbook, same night went to the Wilton site, and someone mentioned CC, so curious me, I came to check it out, and guess what, I'm addicted. I've learned so much, and my husband never complains that I go online every night, not even when I dragged him twice to the Wilton tent sale and spent $300. In fact, he's doing my website at the moment, so I should have it up and running in couple of days. He's wonderful.

You guys are the BEST! I wish I could have you all over for lunch. I too have a three year old daughter and a 16 month old son. I'm a stay-at-home mom that has just discovered cake decorating and I'm addicted. I'm addicted to decorating and I'm addicted to this site. My DH is very supportive but has noticed and commented on my recent addiction to this site. "Why are you always on Cake Central?" he asks. My reply is simple. "Why do you always watch baseball?" LOL.

I feel the same way you all do. I am totally addicted to this site. I am on it for hours on end. I am also a SAHM I have a 3yr old daughter and a 2month old son. I love coming here and reading and learing new things and looking at everyones beautiful work. I get very inspired here. My hubby is supportive, but he is in the military so it gets lonely especially when hes away or on a course and its home. So this is my little get-away from the kids hehe.
