the recipes tell me to use rolled oats, can i use quick oats instead, also it tells me to use shortening. what if i use butter instead how will this work

Normally, you can sub quick oats for rolled oats. You just get a softer texture. Butter instead of shortening with cause the cookie to flatten a lot when it bakes. consider 1/2 and 1/2
