I just ordered one for myself last night. It's my birthday present to myself (my bday is Oct 4).
I got mine in red....what color did you get?

I got the red one also.... Congratulations! I am so excited. Hubby didn't even bat an eye. He appreciated that I had found such a bargain. I was originally just browsing through the refurbished models... Well, I already have the small KA... and just got the spot ready for the new one. Happy early birthday. Will yours arrive in time?

I'm not sure if it will arrive in time but I'm hoping so.
It was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up.

Happy Baking!

I just ordered mine last night as well . . . wanted the red but went with the gray. I told my boyfriend to consider it an early christmas gift--it was too hard to pass up for that price!

The bonus is that I just had my original mixer serviced so its like new again . . . so I'm giving it to my mom. (She bought this one for me originally but doesnt have one herself.) Its like a two for one deal!

I got mine today . . . love it!!! Its that gunmetal gray . . . I'm so happy with my choice.

Only question is, is it just me or does it sound like the motor is struggling??? I thought it was just quieter than my old Artisan, but my boyfriend swears it sounds like it struggles in lower gears.

HELP!!!!!!!

I thought the same thing about my artisan when I first got it. Having never had anything better than a hand mixer, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to sound like that or not. After using it a few times, it no longer sounds bad when I start it up. Well, not unless I'm making buttercream, then the poor little thing just gives me all she's got, and makes the noise to let me know she is not happy about all the work.. haha

Good luck! I hope someone has a better answer for you than I do. I can only go by what's happened to me.

I asked the same thing recently, when I got the KA 6 quart professional, and was told by quite a few people that it's supposed to sound like a jet engine firing up. icon_razz.gif

Not sure if that helps, but apparently, it's noisy, and that's okay. icon_smile.gif Congrats on your newest member of the family. icon_biggrin.gif

I think thats what I am worried about . . . mine is much quieter than my Artisan was . . . the artisan was obnoxious.

this one is quieter and sounds more powerful . . . but it sounds like it takes more effort in the lower gears.

I am getting ready to get my very first KA but can someone tell me a little more about the bowl lift. I want to 6qt of course but I read on another thread here that a few people did not like the Bowl lift better than the tilt head.

Congrats on your new purchase....it's a beaut! I've had a Pro600 6qt for years and recently purchased an Artisan (when Lowes had them on sale) and I couldn't believe how much quieter the Artisan is than the Pro600! My Pro600 is obnoxiously loud, but I love it dearly! I LOVE the bowl life....have found that I do not like the tilt head at all! May end up selling my Artisan!

i just broke my hand mixer yesterday on my last batch of buttercream. r.i.p. little mixer! so i need one definitly before wensday, so i can mix all the stuff for my class...and it sucks cuz i dont really have money right now that i want to spend on a mixer... icon_cry.gif i looked at the kitchenaid refurbs...and im kinda weary about them. has anyone bought a refurb from them? i just dont want to spend my money on a lemon..... has anyone seen any good deals at stores lately? i guess i can take a look. anyways thanks for reminding me that i do in fact need a new mixer!
