I'm VERY pleased with it. I went to the hall this morning and set it up--took pics of it just to prove that it was perfect when I left--hopefully it will still be that way by 4:00 pm! It's constructed in a very sturdy manner, though, so I'm confident that it will hold up well.
Peacock and Debbie--I did go with Option #4--you were right about moving the iced 12" cake, too daunting of a task. It's actually completely different than the original plan being that I ended up stacking it instead of pillaring it--but it would have been the same decoration-wise, just on pillars between the tiers.
I have learned so much from my fellow decorators here, through your ups and downs, beautiful cakes and even disasters---thank you to all!!
There is a pic of the complete cake and of the detail scrolling. Notice that I "hid" the couples' monogram in the scrolling. Here it is.
