I posted this on the "How Do I" board as I didn't know where to post it. Sorry Moderaters!

I made a cake to take to my grandma's house on Thanksgiving. It was a round 8 inch classic yellow cake with very thin 6 layers and had plain chocolate frosting. Well my aunt was talking to her friends mom about cakes and the lady said she hadn't had an old fashion 6 layer cake in a while. Aunt Penny told her that I had just made one thursday so the lady asked her to ask me if I would make her one and how much I would charge. Well I have no idea how much to charge. It took about 5 minutes to mix and about 30 minutes for each layer to cook(with 3 cooking at the same time) It took about 30 to make the frosting and to frost it. I also have to figure in the cost of a box.

What would you charge?

Thanks a bunch!

I don't charge for the time it takes me to do any of my cakes but as a rule of thumb I charge $20 for every batch of cake I use and maybe $10-$15 on top of that if It was a hassle cake that was a pain to do.

Are you going to decorate it or just leave it plain? If plain then I think I would charge about $15 if decorated then I would charge more depending on how long it takes and the supply costs.
