I have modeled my 2 polar bears from fondant for a friend's winter party this next weekend... she said I could do what I liked for her as long as it is wintery/Christmas...I have made the polar bears wearing winter sweaters (Norweigan style) based on the very cute cookies that TooMuchCake made..I have to paint them yet but they are modeled...I also made some snow balls too...she actually asked for some snowfakes on the cake (her only request besides chocolate) so I am making royal icing snowflakes for the sides of the cake ...10" x 4" chocolate

I was thinking about making a not to tall iceberg and placing the bears on that...one is on all 4's and the other is lying on his back ..looks younger and slightly smaller than the big bear...

Any more ideas? I have done so much modeling for various upcoming projects, I can hardly think of anything about the scene on top of the cake........

What about the one on his back making snow angels and the other looking on?

That is a very cute idea!!! I could use white icing under the bear and make it look like a snow angel..

Do you think I should just cover most but not all the top with white icing?

I have a couple of winter cakes made with gumpaste polar bears. I did an igloo by just rolling the paste fairly thin, marking it with a brick design impression mat and molded it over a bowl that was turned upside down, trimmed it to shape and cut a door opening, it worked well.
You can kind of see the igloo in this picture.

ShirleyW, your polar bears are wonderful....I really like the slide idea as well......did you model your bears freehand?
Mine don't look anywhere as good but you can tell they are polar bears at least.. icon_lol.gif

Thanks. I bought the molds from a seller on eBAY, infact bought many silicone molds from her. They were great quality and now unfortunately she is no longer selling on eBAY.

I have modeled 2 polar bears...the one in the link and the other one is lying on his back..yet to be painted.
I am a bit nervous...I thought they would look better than they do and they are for a winter party cake for someone I work with due on Thursday...

Please give feedback because the other is unpainted and could be changed if necessary...

Thanks
Jane

Perfect and adorable Jane. Did you use a mold or do these freehand?

Here's a little different igloo that I I made for my penguin cake. Unlike Shirley, I don't know how to post a link so I had to post the picture here. My igloo is just a little cake covered in fondant. I've made polar bear cookies wearing sweaters. Would have been cute with your cake. Hope your going to post it when done.
