Does anyone know where I can find out about cake competitions, both nationally and locally? TIA!
I'm located in SoCal but my family loves traveling, so. . .can anyone direct me? Please?
The only cake competition I know of is the Mid-Atlantic Cake Show. http://www.midatlanticcakeshow.com/index.html
I heard about it on CC. I'm sure there are more, I just don't know where to find them....I think there is one in Texas coming up?

Does ICES have any type of national competitions? Or the Food Network or something of that sort?
In the San Diego you can check with the folks at Do It with Icing or the
San Diego Cake Club they are sure to know about any competitions in the region.

Note: the URL for the San Diego Cake Club is no longer going to their site.
Oops, Looks like someone snatched up the San Diego Cake club URL but they meet at Do it with Icing so they should be able to give you contact info. Also there is the California Cake Club.
Interesting. It seems that many fo the CD's who live up in WA and OR come down to SD for the competitions and are quite familiar with the "CD Scene", lol, why is that? Can you all stay in your own state?! JK. JK.

Food Network only host $10,000 cahallenges that are invitation only. The one they do tape is The Oklahoma State Art show. There are many shows in the south. You can keep up to date on events on The American Cake decorating webiste--click on events.
Here are two of the best. The first is World competition in Lyon, France. The second is national in Beaver Creek, Colorado. And the Oklahoma State Sugar Arts Show. And the Amoretti Competition. If you would like to see others, go to a search engine and type in "Pastry Competitions"

Really I never noticed that. As noted in my response I am a former San Diego resident, I've only lived in Oregon for 6 months. As much as I love it here, I've not found any cake clubs or the like. So maybe this why folks up north tend to head south for competitions.

ttatummm - Where in Oregon do you live? I just moved here a few months back and noticed there wasn't anything here either. Maybe we need to start something

I live in Bend. Starting a cake club has crossed my mind. Though honestly my "to-do" list is incrediably long.
