I haven't seen these out here so I'm going to assume that I had a pretty good brainstorm yesterday afternoon.
My aunt is attempting to make some chocolate covered oreos and she called me for some tips because hers weren't coming out like mine. I asked what she was using for a mold and she told me the silicone muffin tins. That got me thinking... I have the fluted (crimped) edges ones and I thought if I used a peanut butter cream oreo and those cups, I would have an oversized "peanut butter cup" chocolate covered oreo! So here they are. The chocolate is a little thick but my husband, the taste tester, didn't complain!
You are an evil woman! Those sound so delisious - I want one right now!!! I agreee with kneadacookie - you should post one of the cup cut in half...but then I'll probably just drool on the keyboard...
Oh those look so good, can I have one, please? They look yummy. Is the recipe for the peanut butter cream in the recipe section? I would love to try these.
Kat
I'd love to have one too! You could even dress these up with some royal icing decorations for any occasion you want. Also, do they sell the peanut butter cream oreos in the store and what kind of chocolate did you use? Can you tell I want to make some??
I've been wanting to order that oreo mold. I'd prefer the muffin tins? Do you pour the chocolate into a paper, then unmold. I'm wondering how you unmold, because the muffin pans can't be twisted. Do you just chill, turn over and bang on the counter if you don't use paper. What a great idea.
I think the "peanut butter cream" is the flavor of the Oreo- instead of the usual white cream, you can get them w' a PB filling, this means we could use the mint oreos too if we wanted "mint cups", HELLO sign me up!
I'm off to the grocery store for some oreos!! What a great creation.... I'm sure they were eaten up quickly! Great Job!
Yes, you can get pb oreos, mint oreos, plain (white cream) oreos. Halloween oreos. I was going to get all crazy and do a ton of these but I just did 8.
jlh-
I used the set of 12 pastel silicone muffin cups that Wilton sells. I think the paper ones would be too thin and the silicone cups are very bendy so the chocolate unmolds very easy.
Here's a picture of the oreo cup cut in half.
That looks yummy thanks for the idea !! Is it the all in one muffin cups ( pan ) or the seperate ones That come in that little mesh bag thing ??? Thanks !!
This choc covered oreo sensation is something else. They are SO good. Has anyone ever tried the oreo minis? You know those ones the sell in the bags? Maybe you could put them in a small chocoate mold of some type? Bite sized morsels are always a hit? Any ideas??
Hi Fiddlesticks - yes, it's the ones in the mesh bag that are separate from each other.
jlh - I have used the mini oreos. There's a frog, turtle and basket in my photos that are CCOs and I use a mini oreos in them. The frog and turtle are a soap mold which I purchased at Michaels. The basket is a chocolate mold that I got in Dresden, OH in the spring when I was visiting Longaberger (my 1st passion!).
Thanks!
OOohhh... These look so great and oh so yummy.Thank you so much for sharing this. I love your frog and turtle oreos. I would love to see you do something with the Halloween oreos....Hint Hint..LOL
HEY... One more question !Did you paint the choc on the cup , chill, add cookie and top with choc & chill again ?? Thanks !!
I used a kitchen teaspoon and spooned about 1.5 teaspoons of chocolate into the cup, squished the oreo down into the chocolate so that it comes up over the sides of the oreo and then I cover the top with a bit more chocolate. I put the silicone cups in a muffin tin so that I can get the airbubbles out a little easier and put in the fridge (or freezer) to set.
My mom is taking my daughter for the weekend on Friday so I may do some halloween oreos this weekend.... and now that I'm thinking about it... I'm getting some ideas!
Oooooh....thanks for the silicone (and recipe) idea. Your edges came out so perfect. Good thing there was a 40% off Michael's coupon in the paper yesterday...I'm off to buy yet more Wilton stuff!
O.K..Another find at Walmarts today. They have the Silicone baking cups. They are by Bakers Advantage and their are 12 in a pkg for 7.32. I think I will be making some chocolate covered oreos this weekend! Thank's again Jenwith
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing...I LOVE peanut butter. I'll have to give that a try!
(Sometimes I will buy Hershey's Kisses and toss a few in a jar of peanut butter then grab a spoon! )
shanzah67... Thats sooo funny!! Adding choc kisses to PB & eating out of the jar !!! LOL!!! I just baked some mini choc chip P B cookies today !!! Nothing fancy. Just had to use up some supplies I had. I will post them later in my photos !!! They are quick & easy & A family favorite !!! Later !!!
oh yummy!!!! I have the Wilton flowers mold--wonder if I could put an oreo in there and then fill with chocolate. Have to check sizes. I do like these oreo filled cups.
Did you use melted chips or candymelts? never have done the oreo thing, but these look yummy!
Thanks for the idea! Like Wilton doesn't already have enough of my $--lol
I use the candy melts. I find that regular chocolate chips are too soft and I don't like storing the cookies in the fridge once they are dipped. I set them in the fridge but that's it.
OMG !!Sooooooooo cute !! I have to know how you got the shape for that candy corn ?? Thanks for posting !! And the layered oreos look good to !!
I freehanded the candy corn. Can't you tell?? LOL. None of them are the same size or thickness. I just doodled a couple on a sheet of paper, placed the paper in a plastic sheet protector and piped the chocolate on top of that. I think a small parchment bag with a tiny hole would have worked much better but I don't have any of those at home.
I will give the chocolate transfer a try again. I'm not completely sold on the concept. But when I have another idea to use the technique, I will give it a try once more.
Thanks I bought some choc transfers ... Havent tried them yet !!! I think your candy corn looks good!!
