I need to make a boat cake with a windsheild and I don't know what to use for the glass. I would appreciate any help.

Awww, sorry no one answered. Anyway I did a search here for glass and there are a bunch of ideas. Have you already tried that? GL!

Does it need to be edible? If not, I would cut the shape out of acetate.

What about using gelatine? Mix and let it dry then cut your shape.

Me too - I'd use gelatine

You could make some candy and color it a pale aqua color, pour over a curved shape, and use a sharp knife to cut to the exact shape before it hardens completely. After it's hard, place it in the car or truck. I think gelatine may be to soft and become to soggy. I could be wrong though.

Just a thought.

Personally I would never use gelatin on a cake. Gelatin is one of the grossest things ever to be manufactured (it's meat).

I made a little car for the bridal fair last year and cut out a part of an ice-cream container for the windshield. If it's a big, obvious thing I think it is okay to use a non-edible item.

Sheet gelatin. Just cut to shape and stick with some gum glue.
