Hi!
My son is turning 2 soon and I am doing his b'day in a animal safri(sp) theme. Very cute. He loves monkey's and the monkey on the party stuff is a purple color and I would love to make a purple monkey, but I cannot find anything to do a cake with.

I know I can make one with the Animal Crackers cake pan and there is a monkey in the 05' yearbook, but I am nervous because there isn't any instructions. Has anyone made this monkey cake without instructions?

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Here are some instructions using that animal crackers pan but they're not very detailed...

You can search the picture galleries too and here is another discussion on monkey ideas:

ntertayneme made an adorable 3-D monkey and she posted it in her photos. I saved it because it was sssssssssoooooooo cute and I bet that she would tell you how she did it!

Look in the gallery under the "animal" album and the key words are "monkey smash cake". I am not sure how to attached the a photo from "My Saved Photos".

If you can't find it, let me know and I will email it to you.

That 3-D monkey is sooo cute! I had to make a jungle cake for a 2-year old's birthday party (who was having a 'traveling' zoo at her party, no less), and the cake had to be really big with a 'real' jungle theme. I wish I still had a picture, but my computer crashed...and I lost so many of my pictures, but I'll try to describe. This cake was a 16" round, 2 layer cake that I iced a tan color. I then used premade (store bought) jungle animal faces (they were zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions, etc. found at the local Wal-Mart (but I could have piped them also). I placed these at different heights around the sides of the cake, then I used different sized leaf tips to create tall grasses, the large (10) round tip to create tree trunks and palm tree trunks (all around on the sides of the cake also) so that it looked as if the cake all the way around was a rain forest jungle and the animal faces appeared to be 'hiding' the bodies behind the grasses and trees, etc. A 3-D monkey went on top of the cake with two palm trees. (Monkey was make using the mini-bear 3D Wilton pan. The cake was fairly easy and really precious, got rave reviews at the party. Hope this is an idea you can use, I almost want to run in the kitchen and make it again so you can see! thumbs_up.gif
