I'm making a last minute cake (tonight) for tomorrow. I'm going to try a FBCT (for the second time ever). I've been reading the FCBT articles and there is a 'preferred' recipe for FCBT. Can I frost the entire cake w/ this as well? Or just use that for the transfer and a different recipe for the rest? Probably doesn't matter just wanted to be sure if I could before I start mixing...

Thanks.

Annie

I actually really like that frosting. I frosted the whole cake with that recipe. HTH. Kristen

I tried to frost with the FBCT frosting and had a hard time with it sticking to the cake, even with crumb frosting. My cake had been frozen so that could have been the problem. After I finally got it frosted and it set up, the VIVA towel did great with it. Actually it had a pretty good taste but it was alot of work just to get it on the cake.

Thanks! OK - one for, one against. Looking for a tie-breaker...

I use a very similar recipe (1/2 butter, 1/2 crisco), with that same amount of flavoring and sugar. I add 5 tbsp water/milk/liquid to mine at the end, I would think it would be too stiff to work with without the liquid. So I would say it should taste great on your whole cake, just be aware you will need to add liquid to make it spreadable.
