I've already posted something similar to this ............ But I need ideas for "folk art". I originally was going to do the mod look with circles and lines of brown and pink but I don't think that strikes me as "folk art" . Please help!!!!!

When I think folk art, I think kinda americana/paisley/nature. All of which fit w/ the tattoo. I found this image from searching "folk art" in google images...i think the colors are nice, images simple and would look good w/ the tat. Good luck...it's a different yet wonderful idea!

I thought of doing maybe an oval fondant plaque and trying to cocoa paint the bird on that. I also had made fondant booties for the cake topper. But I still not sure how to tie in the colors. I have very limited brown ..only small amount of fondant. She asked me to do this cake on Thursday and the shower is tomorrow. I had ran out of brown coloring on my last cake. Originally I thought maybe to do a light pink cake and accent with the bright pink and brown. Any ideas??

Now that I'm looking into all of this, I kinda love this americana/folk art baby theme. I wish I had a reason to do it!!! You could do a sheet cake, done up to look like a folksy old fashioned patch-work quilk (think dolls, log cabins, BIRD TATS icon_smile.gif OR....you could do a couple tiers with a few of the patterns along the outside, nice geometric border along the bottom. Wow, my mind is just loving all the things you could do with this! icon_smile.gif ! (Sorry if I'm getting a little carried away).

I love the ideas keep them flowing. It is a two tiered cake. The dad is a folk art musician. His tattoo is also the cover of an album and he made a song with a bird wrote in.

OK, I just saw the hot pink and brown, so I can safely assume girl. Now let me recap...
1. hot pink and brown
2. folk artsy
3. bird tattoo incorporated.

What a combo, but it could be cool! Ok here's my idea, do w/ what you will icon_smile.gif Your 2 tiers in hot pink. Then with the brown do folkart paisley (think similar to the henna patterns on the main cc home page) kinda around the sides of each tier, also incorporating the bird w/ those. Something cool on top (your booties, jazzed up?). That's about all I've got but I'm sure you'll come up w/ your own cool idea. Definitely keep us posted when you get this done...i wanna see what you come up with icon_wink.gif
