After debating whether to pursue opening my own shop, I decided to try to find a commercial kitchen instead.

I approached a local establishment and was told that I can use the address, but not the actual kitchen/facility and my business name could not be displayed. This is based on the fact of liability and the expense they went through to establish their business. With which I am total agreement with as I have done my own research and soul searching and have a good idea of the time and expense involved.

It still may be an option for me to pursue their offer, but in the end, I will be just as in danger as before doing a home-based business if I am reported.

Has anyone else tried this way of operating?

I'm not sure this would be something I would do. Leagalities of it could come back to bite you when you established your business. After working that hard, why jepordize that?

I know the temptation as I am searching for an establishment myself, but if I'm going to work my tush off, there is no way I want that attached to my reputation.

I rent a commercial kitchen, but I have to have my own health department inspections. They check out where my things are stored and my refrigerator, etc. They want to see where and how I actually work. I wouldn't try it if I were you. I agree that if you were to go through the trouble of setting up a legitimate business, do it right.
