I'm am working on getting some orders. Saturday I mailed out a certificate 10% off any cake order to everyone in my address book, plus to everyone that signed in at my table at a vendor fair last week. I think I mailed out close to 100 envelopes.
I am thinking about sending out a mailer every month with a monthly "special" like 25% off any Mother's Day cake as the May special.
Buy one dozen cake balls, get 1/2 dozen free as the Feb special (I'd rather have those than regular chocolates icon_biggrin.gif ).

I'm thinking I would get them in the mail by the 18th of the previous month (mail the February special by Jan 18th) and state that the order must be placed by the end of the month (placed by the end of Feb to get the Feb special - does that make sense?)

How does this sound?
Any suggestions for other months?

Thanks for your ideas!

That sounds like a really good Idea. A cheaper Idea may be to do 1/2 sheet postcards (on cardstock)? Then you don't run the risk of them not getting opened.

I would see how they do in the first couple of months too, to maybe decide who to send to and who not to (to save postage). But what you pay for in printing and postage may make itself up in one order.

You may also do a "running special"....something like, if your birthday is in this month, mention the add for ??% off....or something like that. Or, free 1/2 dozen cake balls with your order on birthday month.

Sounds like you could come up with all kinds of things. Good luck with it!

That's excactly what I'm doing starting this month.

On months that don't have anything going on I'm going to offer deals on Birthday or Anniversary cakes.

January - Winter theme cakes
Febuary - Valentine or Mardi Gra
March - St. Patrick's
April - Easter
May - Mother's Day, Graduation
June - Father's Day, Graduation
July - 4th of July
Aug - Summer theme cake
Sept - Labor Day, Back to School
Oct - Halloween, Sweetest Day
Nov - Thanksgiving
Dec - Happy Holidays

You can also run specials on wedding, shower etc.... I'm sure I am missing some. I also want to have specials on cookies, muffins and brownies.

You could always offer birthday specials in the month of YOUR birthday and/or anniversary specials in the month you started YOUR business. You could offer previous cleints specials in the month of THEIR birthday too.

I have a 'combo special' for kids birthdays. A cake plus 2 dozen cupcakes plus 2 dozen iced cookies for an amount. Lots of people actually like this 'cause it has everything in it to make a party table look pretty.
