i am having a problem uploading pictures. the pictures that i have saved on disk are too large (file size) to upload. does anyone know how i can upload these without changing the photo on the disk?
thanx!
Happy decorating!
Debbie
You simply cannot upload if it's over 900. You will have to make them smaller.
I have to do this before posting. I just run them through my photo program (I use HP Imaging) and make a second copy but at 640. It's also a great size for emailing.
If you don't want to make them smaller, get a webshots page. I do this also. Then every once in awhile I make a post about all my new cakes and link to my site. I keep all the newest cakes in one album so people don't have to search for them. Then, later, I move them to where they should be and start over.
Here's an example of what I'm taking about:

Oh yeah, you can also tell your camera to take them smaller. I do this sometimes also just for the cake picture to post.
thank you! i guess i better spend a little time better learning my camera (i've only had it for 2 years!) i've been asked about a web-site but haven't looked into that either. how do you go about setting up a web-shots page?
Debbie
Just click on to my link I provided above. When you get there you will see a place to click and sign up. It's free. They also have a paid membership, which I think I'm going to need soon. But it's not until you get over 240 pictures on there (you can delete though if you want to stay under 240-but which tutorials do I get rid of????? NOOOOOOO!).
I've tried lots of on-line picture services and they seem to be the most user-friendly. Yahoo is OK. But webshots is still better. I actually have 3 webshots accounts. But I didn't want my customers on the same site where my tutorials are...just in case.
Hi Debbie,
I realized that 900 KB was just not enought to cover most peoples photos. I have removed that restriction, so you should be able to upload without any more problems!
thank you ~ however i just "shrunk" them and uploaded them. of course somehow i uploaded them to birthday cakes and put the wrong picture with the wrong description!
i can practice with more photos now though

Oh gosh, Jackie, that means for us dial-uppers we will have to wait forever for the pictures to load. This is why I don't look at a lot of pictures on other sites. They are just much larger than necessary and it takes as much as 5 minutes to download on to my system.
DSL is not an option for me. It's not available where I live. Neither is AOL or Earthlink or any of those guys. I have 1 option in my town and they are slow.
Not to Worry Dawn!
my script automatically resizes the image to an acceptable size upon uploading it. To view the original you can click the large image in the photo gallery.
So the only person that has to wait for a super large image is the person uploading it.
i have dial up too so it takes forever for me to up-load and to down-load but it's worth the wait!
