~What Are You Baking For Thanksgiving???~
Decorating By GenesisCakes Updated 21 Nov 2006 , 11:03pm by lionladydi
Just made up the list ...
Apple Pie
Blueberry Pie
Cheesecake
Pumpkin Roll
Mincemeat Casserole
And I wanted to make and decorate a cake, but it would be just too much ...
Lazy here (somewhat) 2-3 pumpkin cream cheese rolls for various places my family will be on Thanksgiving
We are spending Thanksgiving with friends so I only have to bake half of the pies.... which is Pecan Pie, Apple Crumb Pie and Sweet potato. My friend is baking the pumpkin pie, cherry pie and Berry pie. I'm also making a Chocolate Cake, my family's favorite, and I'm decorating it with fondant and a fondant turkey!!! Can't wait to start... I'll start Wednesday, I want them to be super fresh!
Just took a chocolate pecan pie out of the oven (I'm fighting myself to wait for Thursday!) and I also plan on doing pumpkin spice cupcakes with gingerbread frosting, and an apple pie, of course!
Cupcakes or a cake. I'm really not sure right now, I was going to make a tier cake but I don't know if I'm going to have time since I have to help my MIL make dinner.
C-H-E-E-S-E-C-A-K-E-S!!
And pumpkin rolls/pumpkin pies...
I've gotten orders for 28 cheesecakes this holiday season...SO FAR.
Not even thinking about Christmas, yet.

Apple pies for my family's celebration yesterday and I decided not to bake for my DH's family celebration. Instead I took the job of bringing the salad this year. It's kind of nice not having too but I do have some extra apples so you never know.
I'm making a sugar free apple cake, Chocolate cc's decorated like turkeys for the kids, and a Lemon layer cake, with lemon icing...I love the traditional things, but I need to pratice my recipes!!!
My birthday always falls around thanksgiving, so a birthday cake is always on the table with the pumpkin pie. This year I am making my own birthday cake, so I don't get a nasty thing from the grocery store. My husband feels guilty that I am making my own cake (he just doesn't get that I enjoy doing this). He has demanded that he be the one to put the candles on the cake, I am not to touch...it would be "sad" if I did it (his words).
I am baking Kourabiethes (Greek Butter Cookies)
and I am making some Chocolate Cherry balls. They tastelike chocolate covered cherries. Yum.
I am also Making Rolls, Hashbrown casserole, deviled eggs, baking a ham & brocolli salad. I think I will be busy
Well,let's see.Coconut pie,3D turkey cake(of course),Pumpkin roll.And thats it for baking,not counting the real turkey and all the trimings,lol.
I might do cake balls. I am making the whole dinner. So, my mom is making her peanut butter & banana cake. A friend is bringing cookies. I'm taking the lazy way out. For now.
I was thinking of cake balls. I was going to take the leftover icing that is in the fridge and make up a couple of boxed mixes, then doing a few dozen to distribute to the family. I have been seeking a reason to try the baked cake balls that we talked about last week, so this would be a time to do it.
Other than that, we are invited out, so I got lucky this year, I don't have to bring anything but the soda!

Chex party mix. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving to my family if we didn't have Chex mix to munch on while waiting for the turkey to roast.
Pumpkin Pie
Sour Cream Rasin Pie
Cherry Pie
also making.....
Deep Fried Turkey injected with a Beer n' Butter Marinade
Beer Butt Chicken
Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole
Cranberry Mimosa's
MIL is bringing Sage Stuffing and homemade Crescent Rolls and other homemade breads
SIL is bringing Relish Tray and Appetizer Munchies
My mother is bringing Carmelized Sweet Potatoes and Stained Glass Salad.
Can you say "there goes the diet?"!!! LOL
Did you say your MIL is "bringing"...
Does that mean dinner is at your house? Forget my gang, I'm coming too!
Sounds great. Have fun!

Yes, we are hosting again this year. My family and his family. We will have 10 adults and 2 children. We will be missing my oldest step-son and his wife, my step-daughter, my sister, her husband and my nephew and one of my husband's sisters. They are all out-of-state.
You're welcome to join us if you don't mind the drive to BFE. LOL
For our Wednesday feast with my parents, in addition to all the casseroles, I'm baking rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and some kind of sugar free pie, just haven't figured out what, yet.
For Thursday, just rolls and a cake. But, I gotta get busy cause we're also baking some ornaments for my Kitchen Christmas tree this week!!!
WOW WOW WOW get out the sweat pants!!

I JUST WANTED TO WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING. MAY YOU ALL FEEL THE GIFT OF THANKGIVING IN YOUR HEARTS...WHETHER YOU ARE AT HOME OR OUT WITH FRIENDS, FAMILY AND LOVED ONES....ENJOY!
OH AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGGYLOU!
We're not having Thanksgiving at our house, so I'm not doing much baking. I'm thinking of doing the chunky apple cake in the recipe section of CC and adding a cream cheese icing. I've made leaves out of candy melts in fall colors to place around the base of the cake and maybe on the top, too. Other than that...I'm letting someone else do all the baking this year.
3 dozen rolls, 2 apple pies, 2 pumpkin pies (one is pumpkin apple butter) [+the 2 my daughter is bringing], 1 french silk pie, 2 cherry pies, a cheesecake and MAYBE some cookies, but that all depends on how much house cleaning gets done tonight (I just found out my EVIL S-I-L will be here for Thanksgiving ... aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! )
Yes, we're hosting, but that's okay. The only new additions are my in-laws and now the witch and one of her progeny . AND our new grandson who will be able to have "a little of everything" from the table per his doctor ... he's 8-1/2 months old and just a delight to have around!
Hope you all have a great holiday!

[p.s. And, NO, none of them are cooking! MIL doesn't like to cook and freely admits it, and you couldn't tie me down to eat SIL's food ... I'd be afraid of the poison she'd put into it! I'd rather STARVE than eat anything she made!]
aobodessa you have just made me spit out my water by laughing so hard. I have an in-law issue myself. Last year I slaved in the kitchen and made the thanksgiving meal for my inlaws (my first year with hubby so i wanted to impress) My table would have put martha stewart to shame and my meal very tasty. Well here is the horror of it. They showed up 2 hours late!!! MIL brought potato salad....BUT ONLY ENOUGH FOR HER SON (my hubby) and after dinner no one offered to help me clean up....she took a blanket and fell asleep with her head on the dining room table. Well I learned my lesson.....No more thanksgivings for them...this year it'll be my sisters and their families and my hubby.
