ge: COOL AVATAR! ROTFLMAO!!!

I know, I'm making this (I hope) awesome cake for our thanksgiving feast, and I've never made it before, and I SO want to do a trial!!

It is a roll-type cake...sweet potatoe with hazelnuts baked into the top, with cream cheese filling...and whipped cream topping.....YUM! The other is a ginger cake with pear compote filling. Do I DARE bake them early enough for a trial?

icon_surprised.gif You mean people are supposed to eat healthy?

You mean we're not supposed to fry stuff all the time, and use full-fat cream in our coffee, and... icon_surprised.gif ?

Oh...wow. Guess I should get on the wagon, then...

OMG you are so right! I bake to my heart's desire from late Oct through Dec. from pies to cookies to (of course) cakes to etc.......... Pretty much my last hoorah is when I make my truffles (the real ones) and other goodies to give out as gifts to teachers and freinds. After that I have just enough energy to do Christmas, then I'm spent and can't wait for the apples and broccoli! icon_biggrin.gif

I just love baking and as soon as November comes I start. I love fudge and my family has there only "special recipe" that has been around since my great great grandmother. I make about 4 batches of that around this time and then I make pies and cheesecake and cakes. Oh yeah cookies. I am the kind of person who likes to "give" out food to my friends and family so of course I have to eat most of it. I was thinking about this year making a small 3d bear for everyone I know for fun just to have some practice. I will probably make a couple for me as well. And get this I just lost 35 pounds since last year and I am down to almost nothing so it wont hurt to gain a couple of pounds back till after New Years. Next year me and my fiance which is more like my husband since we have been living together for 4 years and have a daughter together we are getting married dec. 1st of next year so I wont be able to eat everything I want to next year so I am getting all of it in this year. icon_smile.gif

Well, if you don't try things, how will you know if anyone will like them? I have to sample everything I make - (unless it's some special order that has something nasty in it that I won't eat! - like prunes or something, blech!)

you guys are so funny! I had a turkey/feta/spinach burger tonight with no BUN!!!

Working on it as hard as I can. Mostly I can stay away from the treats....or can do just a little bit. It is the potato chips that get me!

Did you know you can use a chip for cutlery/shovel/spork??!! icon_biggrin.gif

Ok gotta add my 2 cents. My mom recently sent me a really gross email. But it is so true. A reason to be FAT It was several pics of sickly thin women. I showed them to my teen son he also wanted to be sick. I am not a thin woman by far but after seeing that pic I LOVE MYSELF EVEN MORE. Hey bakerchick Is this your first child?? Watch that weight alittle. I was addicted to the pan brownies in a box in the 90's . They had the little plastic pan to mix and nuke them in. I would eat a whole batch at one sitting. I also baked homemade apple pies. I gained over 50lbs and never lost it. DS is now almost 16. With DD I only gained an extra 25 lbs and lost it. But still on the plus side of life and lovin it. I still try to eat somewhat on the good side. icon_lol.gif But I never pass up a good meal. THANKGIVING here I come icon_lol.gif

No, this is my second. With my first child, I tried to watch what I ate and everything, but with this one I pretty much eat whatever I want. Now dont get me wrong, it's not all junk food all the time. I really like most veggies and salad. And I take my prenatal vitamin religiously. After the baby gets here Im going to start going back to the gym and "eating right" icon_lol.gif .I figure I may as well enjoy it while I can! Besides I've only gained about 12 lbs so far. I've got a little wiggle room!! icon_wink.gif
