I am planning on making some scarecrows using candy melts & using them as cake decorations. How long in advance can I make them? When storing them should I put them in an airtight plastic container, wrap them in wrap first, store in the freezer or fridge, etc? I'm just wondering b/c I'm going to be making quite a few cakes for my daughter's fall festival & would like to get as much out of the way as far in advance as possible. thanks

candy easily keeps for 6 weeks, just store in a cool dry place, Don't refridgerate unless your house is so hot that your candy will melt. I just place in tupperware, layered with parchment or waxed paper.

Chocolate and chocolate melts will keep for several months provided you keep them in a cool dry place as peg 818 recommends. Also in a dark place, such as a closet or cupboard. Heat and especially humidity will cause them to bloom (grey or white spots on surface). icon_smile.gif
