any way to dry fondant?

I'm making a flip flop cake for a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. I made the flip flops out of fondant on Sunday and they're still not dry!! I've been keeping them in an airconditioned room and they get hard, but during the day when we're at work, the AC gets turned off. I come home each nite to find the fondant soft again! It just seems to suck any moisture out of the air! The flip flops were supposed to stand up out of the cake...

Also, I made some fondant babies/blanket/baby things to mail to a friend in Florida for a cake topper. Has anyone successfully mailed fondant? I wanted to wrap in cotton to cushion, but I'm afraid they'll start to melt and the fibers will stick to it. Who knows what the conditions will be after it leaves my hands...

But if that wont work maybe cakeboard stuck to the bottom of the flipflop would do for now.
Also you know all those little packets of silica that come in alot of boxed items (shoe boxes ) to keep the moisture out. You can put them in the box you ship the items in. But making them far ahead and letting them dry in advance is best to do before shipping.
