I work all the time...7 days a week
my back hurts
my feet hurt
I cant sleep at night because my mind races a hundred miles a minute!
my husband gets jealous
I have gained 45 lbs in 4 years(I have buttercream running through my veins)
Customers are always telling me what I need to do,what I should,this is a great idea,how about this.............(unsoliciated advice...gotta love it) icon_twisted.gif
If its slow I'm stressed
If its busy I'm stressed
I have to take out the garbage, clean the kitchen, clean the toliet.................
I have to put on a smile everytime someone walks in and says "You dont have anything today?"I give them a free cookie and tell them that Im a made to order specialty dessert/cake shop.(MADE TO ORDER key phrase)

OOOOOOOOOOOH and apparently I'm a big fat whiner because I'm complaining to all yall!!

Thanks for listening(reading) Im just having a moment!
Because honestly I really,REALLY LOVE what I do! (Hell I pratically do it for free!)

I don't think you are big whiner at all...but it sounds like you need some days off!!
I read your post and I actually laughed...not at you but because I could relate..not to doing cakes all the time but just in general.

Hang in there!

THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!! I felt like I was the only one!!!!! I left my job in Feb due to extensive traveling and wanting to be with my 5 year old more - but I am working harder now! Clean up from breakfast, start a cake, clean up cake, clean up lunch, try to start cake again, get hubby reading for 7p-7a shift, get dinner, try once again to start cake... You get the picture. I feel like I have less time for everything!

We crazy cake ladies need to stick together!!!!!

I wanted to be busy but I think I better learn the word NO!!!

PS - Does everyone show up to pick up a cake late for you??? I feel like they think I work in my house so I have no where else to be! YIKES!!! Sorry for ranting!!!

WOW!!! Glad to know that I'm not alone...my partner and I have cake 7 cake orders that have to be done by Wednesday for the holiday... so I'm mentally preparing for that...in addition to the meal that I have to prepare for my family. But an example of a REAL frustrating moment...# full sheet cakes not picked up at all... that really hurt me...the cakes were nice!!! Just hang in there!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

Man you said it! (btw, your cakes are very unique and beautiful! Can I ask what you paint on your fondant with?)

I also feel like I can't take a vacation. Because I have to turn down orders. I am going to my mother's house for turkey day and will be out of town and turned down a lot of cake orders for big birthdays and reunions for the saturday after Thanksgiving! So next year, I am thinking I won't take thanksgiving off! That is awful, isn't it?

I am working a full time job and doing the cakes. I bake all day Sundays, and freeze everything. I spend every evening home after working all day either making decorations for the cakes or decorating the cakes. I often spend all nighters (up till 3 am) on thursday and friday nights to be ready for the weekend. I hope one day I can go full time, thinking I will be less exhausted. I guess I am just dreaming, huh?

I do love it though. I hate the picky mothers and the bridezillas and the people who call me at 3 pm on a thursday wanting a cake for Saturday morning....but I still love it!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only like this. I don't get as many order as I would want, so here's the stress... and yes customers think that I have no where else to go... When I ask them when they're coming to pick it up, they always say : "sometimes in the afternoon" or "maybe in the evening". And when I suggest they come around at a certain time because I have something planned, they're surprised like they think I have no life besides cakes!

Ah but I love what I do!! Some customers are just the sweetests though, and that makes up for everything... I even have a customer that her kids requests my cakes. She was planning a small birthday for her two sons, and wanted to make the cake herself, but her sons said they were planning the cake for weeks now, so they could challenge me. They always come up with different ideas to see if I'm able to do it! They wanted a Sylvester on a motorcycle! Their mom thought it was hard, but it was easy, the pic is in my photo!!

Littlecake, I'm sure you're trying to get rest today icon_smile.gif
Take care of yourself!! it goes for all of you, that posted in here too!!! We need to take care of ourself if we want to still do what we love!!!

I love that: buttercream running through my veins! icon_lol.gif

hahaah I hope you got all your pies and cakes done!!! I hope you have help!

I have actually lost weight since doing this. I get so involved in my work, that sometimes I will go all day without eating. Also, I get very heated when rolling fondant. It sure is hard work!!!

Hope you all have a happy thanksgiving!!!!!
