o.k. i know this is weird but my son's therapist asked me today if i could make her a cake for her brother's coming home party. I thought the man was in the military but come to find out he was in prison. YES PRISON! what kind of cake do you do for a person coming home from there? Im not charging her because im not licensed and i only do cakes for practice right now. Any help would greatly be appreciated. thanks

How about a sheet cake that looks like a welcome/front door mat that says, "Welcome Home?"

My other thought was a "Get out of Jail Free" card from Monopoly, but that wouldn't be tasteful at all...and he certainly didn't get out for free it seems! Or you could put a file in the cake! LOL Wow, I'm really upping the cheese and insult factor on that one! icon_smile.gif

How about something on a theme of a fresh start, a new day, or something similar? Not knowing the details would make it hard not to do something inappropriate.

Or, maybe just "welcome home"?

I could not think of anything good to say or put on the cake.

I'd go for welcome home for sure. It's simple, and hopefully he wouldn't be touchy about it. Maybe run it by the customer?

Here is a link to a cake posted just the other day.

This topic just kills me icon_lol.gif All I can think of are very tasteless comments. Jail and prision aren't issues I've really had to deal with.

I like the welcome home idea from a pp. Very nice.

Oh my goodness icon_eek.gif The welcome home is a good (tasteful) idea I think too. But the cake posted is just too funny icon_lol.gif Maybe you could ask her about the situation icon_confused.gif That would give you a better idea of which direction to take. K'ly

Don't for get to post a pic.
