Hey - just to show it works to network with anyone...
I have been receiving deliveries for products at home, and had spoken to one of the ladies behind the window at the post office when I took in things to mail for orders to obtain return receipts...
This led to my regular mail delivery lady to ask me if I was doing cakes for sale - when I told her I was, she asked me if I'd like a monthly standing order for their office birthday party!!! Evidently, they give everyone who has a birthday that month a party and have been talking about using me, since I've given them so much business lately. I was floored - to say the least, because I hadn't really said much of anything, just during normal conversation. Best part is, she said "feel free to experiment on us, we'll eat anything." Being new - that sounds like the best part - not too picky as long as it is edible. I live in such a rural area, the only other choice is Wal-Mart, and a couple of ladies in town that I know do cakes, so I'm glad to get the business and word of mouth that may lead to more business.
Maybe my hope to open a commercial bakery downtown isn't so far away?
