I am going to try a new fondant recipe. So far I have only made MMF. Which recipe do you prefer? Toba Garretts or Michelle Fosters? I wanted a little feedback from those that have tried these recipes. Do you like them and why and do you have any tips for making them? Thanks so much!

I have made Toba's rolled fondant and I loved it...as far as fondant goes... Use the glycerine in it. I had only done MMF prior to that. We found the MMF too sweet.

I find the MMF too sweet as well, although Rhonda's ultimate recipe was better. Thanks for the feedback. Has anyone used Michelle Fosters recipe? like it or?

I've tried both and I prefer Michelle Foster's. It seemed smoother and easier to work with. It's flavor was just a hint more rich (real milk and butter I think makes a difference). Toba's was fine. I needed to add more sugar than the recipe called for but that may have been inexperience at the time. I've since learned to leave my fondant on the soft side and let it rest 24 hours. It will be more firm and less sticky the next day. I'm thinking the gelatin needs to set. I don't think you can go wrong with either recipe.

Thanks for the responses. I made Toba's recipe and it is good. It seems to roll out very nice. I think next time I will make Michelle Fosters recipe to see how they compare.

I just gave my son (15) and his friends a taste of Toba's recipe. My son said he doesn't like fondant but has now changed his mind after tasting this recipe. Their conclusion is that it tasted like the old Popeye cigarette candies they had when "young", only better. icon_smile.gif

Exclusively Toba's here! Love working with it and eating it. icon_lol.gif
Be sure and try the chocolate too, it is wonderful and tastes like tootsie rolls.

My daughter and husband both disliked fondant a great deal until I made Toba's. They both changed their minds and will eat it only if it is Toba's recipe.

Teekakes where can I find the recipe for the chocolate fondant? I would love to try it! I used coconut flavoring for this recipe that I made.

12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate morsels, I use Nestle
1/2 cup light Karo corn syrup

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave at 45 second to 1 minute intervals until melted. Stir well. Add Karo and mix really well. Pour the mixture out onto a silpat or wax paper and let cool for about 5 hours or until set and hardened. It will still be soft and workable.
Work this chocolate blend into your fondant and try not to eat it all before you get the cake covered! icon_lol.gif
