First Real Cake Order...whooo Hooo!

Hi. I just had to share my new success with someone. I took my first "real" cake order today, i.e., not family, a friend, etc.
I also wanted say how grateful I am for the camaraderie on CC and how much the spirit of sharing has helped me.
Because of all the wonderful advice I've been reading in the CC posts, I knew to 1) have a written cake contract; 2) require a 25% non-refundable deposit; 3) charge at least $4 per serving without apology; and 4) explain to the customer that she's not buying a $600 cake, but rather, she's ordering a gourmet dessert for 150 guests.
Thanks, everyone for letting me share...I'm very excited!

Wohooo! Way to go! Keep up the good work.
We will need to support each other here. I just had my first one in August. My 2nd cake was on Labor Day for 500!! That was a crazy week! LOL.
Keep us posted on upcoming events.

That is so wonderful!! Congratulations.
And I LOVE the way you handled the business end of it. Very cool.
Good luck with your cake,
Roberta
Thank you, everyone! It's so nice being able to share and get support here. My family can be less than supportive, as many of you know from your own family dramas; they see this as a silly phase until I get back into "lawyering!"
Wow, Allison, 500... Lord, have mercy! I both want and fear getting an order that size. LOL
