and if so , what do I use? I thought I remembered that I can't add Americolor gels to either because it will sieze. Is that correct? I need to make a ton of chocolate transfer pieces today and they all need to be black - not even dark brown will do. Any tips/advice?

TIA!!!!!!!

Yuppers! If you didn't buy black candy melts, then you can add black powdered food color to the chocolate. It may take a bit of doing, but you can get it there. If you begin with dark chocolate, I think it would be easier to end up black. I can't find any on CC, but Country Kitchen has it here: http://www.countrykitchensa.com/catalog/product.aspx?T=2&ShopId=39&CatId=535&SubCatId=1054&productId=618297

Good luck!

I agree with KrazyKat_14. Start with dark candy coating such as Coco Dark. But I add black candy color (it is oil-based so does not thicken chocolate as much). When adding any candy color or powdered color, I like to add paramount crystals (enough to correct consistency). Those products can be found at same as KrazyKat_14 listed.
