Does anyone want to share if they have favourite songs/types of music that they like to listen to while decorating their cakes?
I find myself turning all "opera-esque" while wailing along to Il Divo - mmmmmmmm they're really scrummy too ha ha

i suppose I should really have "I want candy", but I thought I could get away with "You raise me up" he he he

I'm a little embarrassed to say....but I hum a lot of tunes while I decorate! Most recently I kept humming this catchy little tune from a TV commercial....until my husband asked why I was humming the tune for a male enhancement drug!!!! Yikes!

It depends on my mood, somedays Green day, other days it's Jimmy Buffet.

I turn on my iPod and go to town! It has everything from Flock of Seaguls to Frank Sinatra! My DH gets freaked out when Shilrley Temple comes up! "The Good Ship Lollypop". He said it makes him think of a psycho baker! He says please change it. Hahahaha

I'm more likely than not crazy - but I tend to sing about what I'm making - I make up little tunes as I'm working. I use familiar songs and put my own words to them. Sadly, this is not just cake batter induced crazieness - I do this all the time - I sing to the dog, to the computer, neices and nephews...

This is funny - that is about the only time I listen to the stereo in the house! Josh Groban, Enya, that kinda stuff. I kinda understand the opera comment. Nothing hard & heavy.

Cambo--I often find myself humming that male enhancement tune too!! Not only when decorating though--imagine my chagrine when I noticed I was humming it at church while we decorated for a party there! I may never live it down, but heck it sure is catchy!

I turn on my cable music channels and listen to various stations...70's,80's,90's,Area Rock,Classic Rock,Party favorites and The Hits List..I have all those stations programmed as favorites, so I keep the remote control handy....sometimes I'm decorating my cakes and singing my heart out at the same time..Life is Good icon_biggrin.gif

I listen to country. It seems to have the best mix of songs I like so that I don't have to keep changing the station and I can focus on decorating. Overall I prefer Top 40 stuff but I tend to flip between stations more often. That doesn't go along with decorating so well. icon_smile.gif

Yes, I am not alone. I put on my headphones and crack it up. I listen to a little bit of everything - Spanish and English rock, some ol' school CCR (funny how my initials are the same), and then some Tigres del Norte (a Spanish band).

But I also sing along - loudly. ANd it probably wouldn't be so bad if I COULD sing. ONe day I took my headphones off and I hear my brother and mom laughing. I asked what they were laughing about and he said that for the past 30 minutes my mom had been cracking on my singing. So now I try to not sing as loudly.

Since I usually wait until everyone's gone to bed to start working on my cakes, its always after 10:00 pm. So, I crank up my mp3 player with Barlow Girls and Superchick jamming through the night. I'm grooving until the early hour of the morning. icon_lol.gif

I usually put on Food Network - can't see it from the kitchen, but I can listen to it. If there's nothing good on (I know - a rarity!!! lol) I usually put one of the cable-tv radio stations on.

For a big cake decorating session, I love to listen to Stevie Wonder or the soundtrack from the movie Now and Then.

Otherwise just the radio is fine - soft rock.

Okay, you're probably ALL going to think I'm weird, but I love to throw in the soundtrack from Star Wars.... icon_redface.gif It has its ups, its downs, and I feel like I'm conquering the cake when its on!

Of course, otherwise, its country music. icon_wink.gif

just depends on what kind of mood i am in and who is in the house at the time. I listen to all types of music, so you just never know what may be playing.

Well, no weirder than me. I blare Barbra Streisand's Greatest Hits through the house on the surround sound. By the time Don't Rain on My Parade comes out, I'm belting them out with Babs. My hubby HATES when I'm decorating or cleaning, b/c he knows it's Barbra time, lol.

I make my cakes when the kids are in bed, so the faster the better!
I like a variety - from Gwen Stefani to Kenny Chessney to Rihanna to blues (love Johnny Lang and Big Head Todd and the Monsters)

My current favorite is "Shut Up and Drive" by Rihanna.

But I do have to turn it off for David Letterman and Craig Ferguson!

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one dancing and singing around the countertop. I crank up some really good latin music (mambos, cha chas, etc....) and dance and sing (even though I don't speak much Spanish it doesn't matter what the words are because the music is so uplifting and empowering). Every so often my DH (who's a great latin dancer) joins in the dancing part. icon_smile.gif

I usually just have the t.v. on and I listen to whatever my hubby is watching at the time. I'm usually to busy to actually watch. On the rare occasion I decorate while my kids are awake I usually end up listening to kid's shows or kid's songs.

my taste in music is very diverse.

I pod.... It goes from Celtic to Rock to 80's rock/top 40 to Country, to 70's.

The other night it went Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Duran Duran, Kenny Chesney, Lorena McKinnet (celtic) to Temptations.

I realized it and got a good laugh.
